The Zambia Men’s National Team have concluded their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers with a very good record of four wins, one draw and one loss.
The Avram Grant tutored side started the campaign on a poor note after going down to the defending champions Cote D’Ivoire and have since not lost any game enroute to securing qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Speaking to the media after the game, Avram was full of praise for his boys and expressed confidence in the coming games.
“Today’s game was a very good game for us, we dominated the whole game from the first whistle, we created chances and scored two good goals.
We wanted to finish the qualifiers as professionals by topping the group which we have actually achieved.
We have now gone four games without conceding a goal, something which was hard to do in the previous games and I remember I promised the fans that it shall not happen again,” he said.
The former Chelsea boss went on to compare his current squad to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City because of their no give up attitude despite losing key players to injuries.
“Despite missing nine key players in the last games, the team continued to play well and have shown great improvement in the last games, the players that came in have been excellent and have shown that they are up for the task whenever called up.
We have very good players who can play at an particular moment whenever they are summoned and that is our strength as a team,” he added.
Chipolopolo Boys complete the qualification top of the group with 13 points, Cote D’Ivoire came out second with 12 points while Sierra Leone finished third with 5 points and Chad closed the group with just 3 points.
