Official: Enock Mwepu pens four-year deal with Brighton

The Computer, Enock Mwepu has joined English Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion on a four-year deal from Redbull Salzburg.

Both Redbull Salzburg and Brighton took to social media to confirm the development as earlier reported by the ZamFoot Crew.

The 2017 U-20 AFCON winner has penned a four-year deal with the Seagulls.

“Albion are pleased to confirm the signing of Enock Mwepu from reigning Austrian champions Red Bull Salzburg on a four-year deal, on undisclosed terms.”

The 23-year-old Zambian international becomes Graham Potter’s first signing ahead of the 2021/22 Premier League campaign, which will be Albion’s fifth consecutive year in the top-flight.

The Albion head coach Potter has expressed happiness with the acquisition of the former Kafue Celtic, Power Dynamos, and NAPSA Stars midfielder.

“We’re delighted to be able to welcome Enock to the club and are looking forward to working with him,” he said.

“He has a great deal of experience for somebody of his age, including Champions League and international football.”

“He’s primarily a central midfielder, although he is capable of playing in numerous positions, is open-minded, adaptable, and very keen to learn and develop.”

“He will add competition to our existing options in that area of the squad going into the new season,” he added.

The Boy from Chambishi made his debut for Chipolopolo in the 3-1 world Cup qualifier win over Algeria and scored the final goal.

Mwepu becomes the sixth Zambian to join an English side, Patson Daka became the fifth Zambian last month when he penned a five-year deal with the Foxes, Leicester City.

Former Chipolopolo strikers Emmanuel Mayuka and Collins Mbesuma had unsuccessful spells with Southampton and Portsmouth respectively.

  4. Please let’s learn to support and encourage patson data and Enoch mwepu,it doesn’t mean if other Zambian players failed in the EPL then everyone else will fail. The failure by other Zambian players shouldn’t be used as a determining factor rather be used as stepping stone to succeed.
