Numba happy with the result despite poor pitch conditions

Sensational Zanaco’s fantastic away performance in their CAF Confederation Cup first leg playoff round was nearly overshadowed bad floodlights as they switched off four minutes to time at the Estadio de Malabo.

The Bankers put themselves in an advantageous position as they beat Cano Sports 3-1 to ease pressure ahead of the return leg scheduled for 4th November.

Ziyo Tembo’s first-half strike and a brace in the second-half by Guily Manziba were enough as the Bankers cruised to 3-1 win over their Equatorial Guinea counterparts.

Speaking to the ZamFoot Crew after the match, Zanaco boss Numba Mumamba expressed happiness with the result.

“It was a tough game playing against Cano Sports but I think the conditions of the pitch affected our play, but I am happy we got a 3-1 lead going into the second leg to be played in Lusaka,” he said.

“This victory is now water under a bridge, we need to prepare well for the second leg like we are the team which is down cause Cano Sports is a great team. This is a kind of game we could have won more than 5-0 but the pitch was slippery and it affected our game plan.”

The bankers win was nearly overshadowed by a poor lighting system. In the 86th minute, the lights went off for a few minutes forcing the match into a halt as the referee, sides representatives, and match authority deliberated on a possible outcome.

The second leg is scheduled to be played at Heroes Stadium in Lusaka on Saturday 3rd November 2019.
