CAF CC: Zanaco win away as Eagles struggle

The CAF Confederation Cup playoff round took center stage over the weekend and Zambian teams, Sensational Zanaco and Green Eagles were also in action.

The Bankers traveled to Equatorial Guinea to face little known Cano Sports Academy at the Stade de Malabo while Eagles played host to Moroccan side Hassania Agadir.

ZANACO ONE LEG IN THE GROUP STAGE

The Bankers were at their ruthless best when they met the Equatorial Guinea side, Cano as they beat them by three goals to one.

Despite dominating play from the word goes, Zanaco only took the lead in the 38th minute through captain Ziyo Tembo. Congolese winger Guily Manziba doubled the lead a minute after the start of the second stanza to put the Bankers in control of the tie.

Cano pulled one back through Fidel in the 74th minute but Manziba was not done as he got his brace five minutes later to restore the Bankers’ advantage, 3-1 the match ended.

EAGLES IN TRICKY SITUATION

Green Eagles suffered a big blow as they allowed a late goal to draw 1-1 with Hassania Agadir in a match played at Nkoloma Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Spencer Sautu put the Kawale Boys in the lead in the 36th minute but captain Rami Yassine leveled matters in additional time to force a draw and put Eagles in a tricky situation. The result means Eagles will need to win away or force a draw with a 2-2 margin or above.

Eagles will travel to Morocco to face Agadir on 3rd November while Zanaco host Cano Sports on the same date.
