The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Division One Northern enters week 16 with some exciting fixtures. The top spot is at stake as any of the top three teams Mungwi, Malalo, and Ndeke can make their way to the summit or cement their place ‘pa mwamba’ by Sunday.
The Mporokoso derby comes alive as United hosts Flying Eagles in a match that sees a top-four side facing a relegation-threatened side.
MPOROKOSO UNITED vs MPOROKOSO FLYING EAGLES
The Mporokoso derby comes alive this weekend in Mporokoso as Mporokoso united will host Mporokoso Flying Eagles. United is coming from a huge win last weekend away at Mpande and is comfortable seating in the fourth position on the log.
Flying Eagles on the other hand are deep in relegation waters after losing in midweek away at Chishimba. Eagles will need to dig deep to be able to fly above United.
2.MALALO POLICE vs TAZARA BLUE STARS
Malalo Police were ousted off the top of the league table and are third with high chances of going back to the top this weekend when they host Blue Stars. Coming from a hard-fought draw against St. Luke, Malalo will need to up their game if they want to return to winning ways.
Tazara Blue Stars are wounded after their first loss of the season to Mpulungu United and will be hoping to crash the police roadblock on their way. With both teams looking to redeem their pride, this will be a cracker of a match. This is our game of the weekend.
3.CHISHIMBA GREEN EAGLES vs CHINTELELWE
The ZNS outfit has been blowing hot and cold this season winning 3, drawing 3, and losing 2 out of 8 games seating in eighth place on the table.
They drew last weekend and won in mid-week. They hope to continue with the momentum when they host Chintelelwe who are coming from two consecutive losses in the league.Green eagles will need to worry about Chintelelwe who tend to be unpredictable away from home and they can score as much as they concede.
4.MPAJI YOUTH vs LWANSASE
Mpaji youth have only won 1 game from the 7 they have played so far. Last weekend they managed to salvage a point away in mporokoso. They host a not so hot Lwansase who are coming from two straight losses. The spanner boys may record their second win.
5.ZAM UNITED vs ZESCO CHIEFS
Zam United recorded their first win last weekend away at Kateshi.Zesco Chiefs are coming from their third win after bashing Abercorn 4-1. This will be a cracker of a match at buseko ground with both teams high on morale.
6.MUNGWI HOTSPURS vs MPANDE YOUTH
The power of the community is enjoying the top of the table, Mungwi Hotspurs have recorded five wins in the last 8 games, picking up 17 points with 2 draws, and have just lost one game so far. They are current log leaders after cooling off Lwansase in midweek they host Mpande Youth who have only picked up 2 points out of 7 games played with 2 draws and losing 5 games. Will the “Waba naba boys” survive at the famous Martin Mwamba ground? We will have an answer after 90 minutes.
7.ABERCORN vs KASAMA UNITED
Pressure continues to mount on Abercorn as they have continued recording draws and losses hence making them sit at the bottom of the table with only 1 point in their coffer out of all the seven games played. This weekend they host Kasama United who is on a good run with 14 points out of seven games four wins, two draws, and lost one shifting them to the 6th position of the table. “Twababonse boys” will be in mbala and not just for site viewing but maximum points also.
8.NDEKE vs ST.LUKE
Ndeke seems to have hit a good form and is second from the top with only goal difference separating them from the log leaders. Coming from a draw in mid-week, this weekend they host the stubborn St.Luke who are good at being spoilers for top slot contenders. Malalo has got a better story to tell.
If Ndeke scoops this match they may go top of the table but St.Luke will not be intimidated by the planes in Mbala.
9.MPULUNGU UNITED vs KATESHI
The Municipal council sponsored outfit side Mpulungu United have caught up and got back to their winning ways even though they were held to a goal less draw by Ndeke in midweek. Mpulungu United have played 8 games having recorded 4 wins with 3 draws and one loss caterputting them on 5th position of the log with 15 points in their bag. This weekend they host Kateshi Coffee Bullets who are on 11th position of the log table.
