The Chipolopolo Boys will start their AFCON 2025 qualification journey next month.
Chipolopolo Boys boss Avram Grant is set to announce his squad for the back to back qualifiers today.
The Israeli gaffer will be with two of his dependable players in Leicester City forward Patson Daka and defender Frankie Chisenga Musonda.
Daka is expected to be out for “a few months”, according to Foxes boss Steve Cooper.
Daka underwent surgery after suffering an ankle injury in Leicester’s final pre-season game with Lens.
Meanwhile Frankie Musonda will be out for six weeks after limping out of AYR’s 3-2 win over Hamilton.
Musonda has been a constant figure at the heart of the Chipolopolo’s defence making a strong partnership with Stophila Sunzu.
Daka has been influential for the Copper Bullets scoring three goals and assisting one meaning he has been involved in half of the goals scored in 2024.
Without Daka , Kennedy Musonda could be given the mantle to lead the attack.
It will be interesting to see if Fashion Sakala Jr will return to the set up after being left out for the back to back World Cup qualifiers against Morocco and Tanzania.
Lameck Banda and Clatous Chota Chama who missed the two games also due to injury are now back and expected to be part of the squad.
Zambia will be away to Ivory Coast in Bouake on 6th September before hosting Sierra Leone in Ndola on 10th September.
Match day 3 and 4 will be played between October 7-15 and will see Zambia face Chad in back to back games with N’djamena hosting the second match.
The November window will see the final two matches with Copper Bullets’ tie against the Elephants the one to look out for.
The final Group G fixture will be against the Leone Stars in Freetown.
The top two countries in each group will qualify for the 35th edition in Morocco.
The tournament will be held from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.
