Nkana visit Red Arrows in rescheduled fixture

Nkana FC will on Wednesday be in Lusaka to take on Red Arrows as the two teams return to league action after the mid-season break.

10th placed Red Arrows have the better form going into the game having won once and drawn three times and will be looking to complete a double over the record champions after they beat Nkana in Kitwe in the first half of the season 1 – 0 with a goal scored by the former striker Francis Kombe on match day one.

Should Arrows win on Wednesday, they will make it three consecutive wins over Nkana having won 2 – 0 away again in November last year.

The ZAF sponsored side will be looking to in-form striker Festus Mbewe for goals. Mbewe has been giving defenses trouble and proved his worth for the CHAN team when he played against Namibia and scored a goal. Arrows also welcome back U23 players, Kenny Mumba, Bruce Musakanya, Shadreck Malambo, Benedict Chepeshie and Patrick Ngoma whose absence caused the rescheduling of the match.

Nkana on the other hand cannot afford to drop more points as they are just outside the relegation zone by one point. Their form is nothing to write home about having only won once and drawn once in the last five games.

However, Nkana fans will be optimistic at the start of the second half of the season after coach Aggrey Chiyangi overhauled the team bringing in the likes of veteran Chipolopolo defender Joseph Musonda, Fred Soutra, Richard Kasonde, Walter Bwalya and jacob Keli.

Chiyangi will be spoilt for choice and this has shown with the 18 man team that has traveled to Lusaka which has seen him drop Kasonde, Soutra and Osman Kamil among the players who would ordinarily make the trip.

A win for Nkana who have 17 points will see them leap-frog Arrows who have 18 points.
