2013 champions Nkana FC finally picked their first win of the season with a slender 1 – 0 victory over National Assembly.
The changes on the technical bench could have helped the results on the pitch but the Nkana fans seemed less satisfied despite the team moving into ninth position with an Austin Muwowo lone goal.
Across town, Lusaka Dynamos got off the block quickly to score a 4th minute goal away against Zanaco.
Thomas Mbolela who was a handful for the Ziyo Tembo marshaled defence line found space between the two central defenders and drilled home past Racha Kola under heavy pursuit.
Despite being pinned back by the Numba Mumamba coached side, Dynamos defended well and ensured that goalie Maybin Phiri was not troubled much.
However Zanaco came close through Charles Zulu, Davy Daka, Fackson Kapumbu and Matthews Macha planted a header over the bar when it seemed easier to hit the target after some good work from Zulu on the right.
Zanaco had to wait until the 4th minute of the referee’s optional time for subsitute Ernest Mbewe to stab home from close range.
Elsewhere in Lusaka, Red Arrows continue to leak points as they were beaten 2 – 0 by Nkwazi who are in second position on seven points.
Nkwazi opened the scores through Chipungu Musukuma who converted from the spot.
Green Buffaloes moved into 11th position on 3 points with an emphatic 3 – 0 away win against Forest Rangers who have only managed a draw in four games.
Diamond Chikwekwe, Lottie Phiri and Kangwa Chileshe were on target for the army sponsored side.
Felix Sunzu lit up Ndeke in Kitwe with a brace against visiting Napsa Stars as Power Dynamos won 3 – 0 at home.
Jimmy Ndhlovu scored the third to push Power into a strong third position with six points, six goals a clean sheet and two games in hand.
Log leaders Green Eagles were held to a 1 – 1 draw at home by Nakambala Leopards who scored an injury time goal.
Matthew Tembo had given Eagles the lead. Eagles have 8 points.
