The Zambia U23 national has been bundled out of the Congo Brazaville All Africa Games (AAG) race after going down 2 – 1 against Nigeria.
Zambia started well pressing the Nigerians and creating chances but Ronald Kampamba and Patrick Ngoma were failing to force a goal with a flicked header by John Chingandu coming off the crossbar with the keeper beaten being the closest they came.
Once they had soaked in the pressure, Nigeria ventured forward and had taken over proceedings by the half hour mark with Zambia virtually failing to play the ball out of their half.
It wasn’t long before Nigeria opened the scores in the 38th minute after Chishimba Changala who had a torrid time against the Nigerian attacker was beaten for pace for Taiwo Awoniyi to tap home the resultant cross from close range after he got ahead of his defender.
Coach Fighton Simukonda then pulled Mukuka Mulenga, who was the stand out player for Zambia, infield from the wide area he had started from and this gave Zambia some stability in midfield.
Zambia started creating chances again on the restart with 41st minute substitute Friday Samu squandering the best chance when he was played into space with only the keeper to beat but he shot straight at the goalie.
Samu finally atoned for his earlier failure to convert when he scored from close range in the 76th minute after Kampamba had already wasted two good chances.
With Zambia pressing for goals, Simukonda brought in Moses Phiri for Shadreck Malambo and slowly the holes started showing every time Nigeria went on the counter attack.
Awoniyi then sealed the win for Nigeria with four minutes to play when he peeled of his marker to run one on one goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata after Kayawe Kapota and Billy Mutale were caught flat footed with one long ball which beat them both for the tall striker to slot home in the 86th minute.
Zambia XI v Nigeria U23:
1. Toaster Nsabata (C), 2. Changala Chishimba, 3. Boyd Mkandawire, 4. Billy Mutale, 5. Kayawe Kapota, 6. Salulani Phiri, 7. Mukuka Mulenga 8. Shadreck Malambo (Moses Phiri) 9. Patrick Ngoma (Friday Samu) 10. Ronald Kampamba, 11. John Chingandu (Bruce Musakanya)

No one to blame but the strikers especially sate sate missing clear chances
Zambian futuball is chibuku
Ooh C’mon Zamfoot…
It should be “OVER-HYPED NIGERIA BUNDLE ZAMBIA OUT OF AAG RACE”
I remember you labelled us *Overhyped Nigeria* after the first leg game. Best way to prove your opponent wrong is to beat them in front of the people…….(Sweetest Revenge)
BADOSKI, THE BLACK METOERS OF GHANA WON 2 GOALS TO -0
IN TAMALE SPORTS STADIUM..MOZAMBIQUE WON AT HOME 1 GOALS TO
0.. I THINK GHANA WON 2 GOALS TO -1 AGREGATE.
Yes brother.. Ghana is through too.
That is us for you. Ghana and Nigeria always there, dominating and representing Africa always.
big congrats to nigeria you are progressing in football big boys at all levels. am not even disapointed. in fact am glad. am not seen a way foward for zambian football. will concentrate om my team nkana and arsenal.
Underachievers booted out. Mumbi blindly got it wrong again. As Judge Joe Biden was analyzing the situation critically. He was called a traitor, unpatriotic by Mumbi. Now Mumbi will have to apologize to the judge.
Paradox after going into hibernation, resurfaced just b4 the Dream Team hammered the young boys in their own backyard.
Yep! Am still sitting on this bench until Mumbi comes ain’t going nowhere, I need an apology.
Zambian players lack determination. We shouldn’t blame coaches
Well well well now where is @Mumbi and the group? I promised to rub salt in your eyes if Zambia loses. Guys it’s high time you started accepting that football in Zambia has worsen in the last 3 years… it’s just pull your heads out of the sand. I put the blame squarely on Kalusha with his rigid policies towards football management, FAZ management shares the blame before I go those stiff naked coaches. I call all Zambians for the love of our game to remove the entire FAZ committee including Kalu he has made his bribes enough. Change everyone managing football team from females to males Teams. Then start afresh it’s better to face reality than having now perennial disappointments we are having as football fans as for you Mumbi and the so called patriotic Zambians continue eating the humble pie football in Zambia is now very predictable, not so? Or again JJB is lying?
JJB. I agreed with you on the issue, but sitting there and demanding an apology isn’t necessary. We lost, no need to gloat just because you feel vindicated. We all lost and with you included.
Judge Biden needs no apology. It is sarcasm. He is not happy we lost but that we should face reality & not just sing along our dirges. A spade is a spade & not a big spoon(apologies to K Hummer).
Nah! Its all a joke guys why would one apologise? Its a way of poking Mumbi
Hard lucky zed
I agree with u sir,no fighting spirit
chipolopolo for life. win or lose
What else have u got?
Be realistic. Constructive criticisms welcome
Playin good football bt failin to score goals, its sad. Zambian players lack determination
THAT’S WHAT YOU PAY FOR WHEN YOU HAVE CRIMINALS AND DICTATORS RUNNING YOUR FOOTBALL. FOOTBALL IS DEAD IN THIS COUNTRY!
Looooooool , THE HEAD OF THE ZFA IS LIVING IN SOUTH AFRICA AND DONT CARE WHAT HIS TEAM WILL DO TO HELP THE COUNTRY..
Hahahahahahahaha..
Zambia Zambia Zambia. You are at it again.Anyway we are not surprised. The Zambian national team footbal results cannot be predicted by Zambians alone. The reason is simple. In fact it revolves around the fact that no person is comfortable with placing himself or herself where s/he actually belongs. We usually think we are better than our real selves.Zambia is suffering from this disease.
I am writing this from Botswana.Believe me,small as we are in football compared to you we are also able to see that your football has taken a serious nose dive. Of course there are many factors but one that is doing most of damage is the physique of your players. In the past you did well in this area but for the past 10 years or so you have been doing badly. There is no doubt that talent is abundant in your motherland but football has changed over the years. I brought up this point some time back and some of you countered me by bringing up examples of small players who have succeeded at international level despite being small. You mentioned Messi and others.I still stand my ground.Better player physique would bring success to Zambia in football.Your scouts have to contend with this challenge to put a smile on Zambian soccer lovers.
Sound like DJ Sly, well said though I believe physique is not the main problem you can have a player like zebras Jerome but if you need to look at the bigger picture… who managers and coaches the physically strong players? Not every heavy weight boxer has won the WBC belt.. it’s how you manage your physique that matters that mere having it in sport.
Good point, your honour.
Another Southern African booted out by another African Giants. Mozambique bow to Ghana.
Mozambique thrashed by Ghana just as Nigeria massacred ZAMBIA in Lusaka ( own backyard).
Mumbi, the westerners are in, the southerners are out. Pedigree is not a single fluke. CONSISTENCY IS THE KEY. Go GHANA Go.
I totally agree. “CONSISTENCY IS THE KEY” Our main cancerous tumor in our Zambian football.
At this rate We better suspend participating in international football for at least 2 years to put our house in order. the shame is too much. i WONDER WHAT FAZ OFFICIALS ARE FEELING TO BE IN FAZ OFFICES.
ghanian players are not all that tall and not all that physic but are always consistent and doing well.size does not matter in foot ball.like th malians an th senegalese will always conqare africa.it all goes down to th mentall toughness ,talent with good technical skills, players been able to read games and utilize it to perfection and th motivation thy get
Nigeria should aim at lifting the first World cup for Africa.Beating Zambia or even lifting the all Africa games should not excite them. What with over 140 million people to select from?
Zambia population 15.5million. Cape Verde population 500,000( half a million). Based on your logic ZAMBIA should walk over Cape Verde because Zambias population is over 3,000%(three thousand %) more than the population of Cape Verde. Cape Verde drew with the CHIPOLOPOLOS at 2015 Afcon.
Uruguay has a population of 3.5miilion. Zambia should thrash Uruguay then? Try it & u will see how the wonder boy Luis Suarez will decimate your team to shreds.
ACCEPT DEFEAT IN GOOD FAITH & STOP THE FLIMSY EXCUSES. Find ways to move forward as other bloggers are attempting to do in this forum. Never listen to failures like Mumbi & Paradox.
Very true brother.
U were excited when u drew in the first leg. Nigeria has every reason to be excited for qualifying
What kind of logic is this? Come on now! Are you aware Cape Verde has a population of Kanyama or Matero in Lusaka but they wallop our arses regardless being only half a million total population?
just be humbel and learn from the west .that all
Ghanaian players are not always tall. Yes that is a fact but consider the way their bodies are. Most of them have strong muscles especially on the legs. That is an aspect of physique. Examples of such players are the likes of Tony Yeboa (GHA), Diego Maradona (Arg),etc.Zambia had such players in the past. The likes of Jostone Bwalya, Kenneth Malitoli, lungs on Phiri. Egyptians have them in abundance .Angola had one by the name Flavio.South Africa had Jerry S’khosana. In Brazil they are plenty. If a player is short he must make up for it by being strong.
Your excuse is lame my friend. Just look at Zambia’s best player at the moment and captain, Rainford Kalaba, he is a small guy but look at the way he runs around defenders. Your point is invalid dear Sly. Physique does not matter but football brains. The truth of the matter is that most of the current Zambian players lack football brains. Thats all. I even wonder if some of these boys really are football players. Some of them football is not their talent or calling but just the love of football attracted them to play.
I can also add that young and upcoming Zambian start, Lubambo Musonda. He is not all that built, but the boy is good and he is going places if he remains steadfast and consistent. So to me, physique plays a little. It may make up if you’re are not a not-so-good player, but is not the overall determinant to being good in football. My opinion.
Congrats JJB. You should be very happy by now, but for me am sad that my beloved country is out of AAG.
Failure to face reality will sadden this know-nothing empty head always
Hip hip horaaaay!!! On a serious note its sad being booted out of every competitive football tourneys not based on our un-effectiveness of our players but based on poor football management in our country. So whats your position now for way forward?
we stop playing soccer
This year all zambia national soccer teams have not won any competitive game. Coaches keep assembling failures….
1. our players are too short and thin at the same time which makes it difficult for them to compete against bigger guys from west Africa and North Africa. 2. Our players lack mental toughness. 3. Technically our players can’t match the west or north africans or just our neighbors South Africans. In the game against Nigeria, our opponents were putting in low dangerous crosses even though they were taller than our players and our boys despite the fact that they are short especially strikers we were using high ball that were easily dealt with by the tall nigerian defenders! 4. Our players lack determination to succeed, that’s why we don’t have any player to talk of in the major leagues of Europe.
Word my sister!
Zambian players lack tactical discipline. That’s why we always loose despite playing well. All the players would go and attack, forgetting that they have to defend and that’s we are always caught on the counter. The players also lack purpose and mentality in their style of play. Its like we play to showcase our skills and not to score. In modern football tactical discipline, purpose and mental strength are key ingredients to winning matches.
The Black Meteors of Ghana gave sent Mozambique home with a resounding 2-0. At the same time the Black Queens of Ghana have sent the ladies of Zimbabwe home. Why is Ghana pouncing the southern Africans ? We have strong ties with Zimbabwe & should have treated them with some leniency. A
President of Zimbabwe attended Iniversiyt in Ghana, married to a Ghanaian. STRONG BONDS. AFRICA shall unite philosophy.
How many times are we going to suffer defeats in one year?
In mathematics we go it infinity, if my Latin still serves me right – ad infinitum, et ultra!
Loooooooooool
Hahahahahahahaha .. EVEN PYTHAGORAS CANT CALCULATE HOW HIS THEORY WILL WIN IF ZED THE HEAD OF THE FORMULER -(22/7)-
IS LIVING ABROAD IN SA..
HE HAVE TO WORK WITH TELEPHONES AND CANT SEE WOT IS GOING ON IN HIS ASSOCIATION.
Kekekekekekeke..
It is not a surprise , what is Kaulusha doing about all these vulnerable results ? What is wrong is not the Players but the Technical Benches . Just bring Coaches who knows the job means because for the Zambian Coach to produce magical results it will take us three decades! Who will have that patience ? Why that other teams are upto it. The disease here I should think is the Money to motivate both players and Coaches; let us remember that other Countries manage to win games then money issue comes at last.
How I miss Renard, we should bring in a new coach to start drilling our average players.
I may say the same.
U MAY?—->Loooooooooool
I have come to conclude that it is not the coach or Faz’s fault in yesterday’s defeat but idiotic, silly unabitious and not so strong mentally stupid boys who content of staying in Wusakile, chipulukusu and kalingalinga.Me that is why I refused to praise them when their got a draw. The body language told what the out come will be before even the whistle, the Nigerian players were jumping and bubbly while our players were justing
Just looking down though looking for coins and their tails in like a dog which been caught eating chicken eggs indeed they were caught, useless players who make our coaches look avarage because they are unambitious.
Continue wallowing in mediocrity, while your West African colleagues are progressing in football. We have a pathetic football system led by a pathetic football association in Zambia. As long as the current FAZ is in place, don’t expect any progress. Even the upcoming AFCON 2017, I see Congo progressing to Gabon. We have no system to talk about.
@ “DISCIPLINE” you are contradicting yourself by saying you can’t blame the coaches but the boys. The jumping about by Nigerians before the game is something the coaches should instill in the players.
Lack of it shows poor coaching tactics by the technical bench.
Somebody from Botswana talked about physic, my observation is that he did not mean players to be of big structure but should be energetic like late Ucar Godfrey Chitalu in order to score.
Our present players are just to weak
physic is a factor in a teams success.such players are needed in in the defensive midfeild area of a team, @ that department a team needs very strong, agressive and good passing players to prevent the opponent attack and give defense splitting passes.
in Ghana’s first game against Senegal we lost two nill because we didnt use the combination of Afriyieh Aquah and Wakaso.
as soon as these physical nature came into the game in our second game against Algeria (remember the visionary pass that Wakaso gave Gyan to beat Algeria). eg of such players are Muntari, Essien, Keita, Yaya Toure, Mikel Obi, Felanni, Matic etc.
however in the attacking midfield u need nimble footed or pacey players like the like Atsu, (Kakaba and Fwayo ie for Zambia) messi, silva, nasri, Modric, etc.
in the heart of defence tall guys are needed too.
my point is a good team needs a mix of all sorts of physic and skill types.

How can you compare the 20 year olds to Ucar Chitalu those are suppose to be his grandchildren did they even see him play? I really dont think its because of being weak, is it not the same Reinford Kalabas, Sunzus, Nathans, Sate Sates of this world who won us the 2012 AFCON? Just 12 months later we couldnt even manage to come out of the group stage, and even the subsequent AFCON – You blame it on teams weakness, really?
WHAT A JUSTICE WE HAVE IN THIS CRIB.Hahahahaha.
CITICENMIKE IN TROUBLE.Hummm!! IS CITIZEN GOING TO LOOSE HIS IDENTITY AS A ZAMBIAN FROM THE JUSTICE OR IS THE MIKE GOING TO ANSWER THE JUSTICE? Kekekeke..
NOW CITIZENMIKE ,, JUSTICE HAS PUT IT TO U THAT —
ARE U BLAMING THIS TO THE TEAM WEKNESSES? Muahahaha.
Where is our football going? I think we need to change FAZ leadership

*we lost two to one
Aww….cry my beloved country…how did zambia manage to fall so low after lifting de AFCON in 2012? De answa is simple…PRIDE….face it guys your entire problems started wen u made it a Priority to pinpoint Ghana out of all the countries in Africa and mock them for the to defeats meted out on them…your Minister had a laugh…Mbesuma, ur keeper and a few players were mocking us…aww my Gyan was so ashamed dat he had brought us so low dat Zambia felt we were co equals….The fans…Eish the fans…don’t get me started on Mumbi and co…one was just making foolish declarations and things…seen…all concentration was n still is on Ghana GO BACK TO THE ZAMBIA WE ALL lOVED that Zambia who won the 2012 AFCON and also de hearts of Africa they deserved it then…
Stupid ,silly,an ambitious players who make as football equals with the likes of Somalia.I feel so pathetic that my heart bleeds. We should not blame the coach but the clowns who donned those Zawa uniforms take for instance a rich man’s son or daughter who fails to make it in life when he had every thing some could just dream of but ends up a failure. If those talented players do not dream beyond S.Africa,Vietinum,Cambondia,Gabon and from having a spacio,Nowah and from Kalingalinga to Kabulonga then we should kiss the next AFCON good bye which Congo will take anyway.Even that clown on supersport’s soccer Africa from Dr Congo thought so and yet his own country only boast of players who are just there to better their football C.Vs,just European left overs.
My observation are as follows;
1.We want to reap results when we have not sown. Zambia has no grass root football yet we are crying for results. How many organized academies do we have?
2. Our players are not disciplined on and off the field coupled with mental issues.
3. We keep recycling players that have failed to perform…tried and tested
4. Zambian footballers have cheap targets. It appears once they can afford a little for beer and cars then they have arrived…Don’t aspire for bigger things. When Zambia won Afcon in 2012 the following year you could read the players body language that they didn’t want to die a little. They had become ‘stars’
5.Football administration has gone to the dogs…I cant explain in detail…just look at shambolic travel arrangements, FA president stays in SA…Who foots his bills to and from SA?
6. For the growth of the game FAZ and the league should be divorced. Lets have other people run the league so that it becomes professional..FAZ role in the league is purely the rules governing the game. They can run a cup game not the league
– The size of a player is not a major factor in the game. Yes you may need some defenders and some midfielders here there. But size cant win you games…The issues at hand are discipline. Our players keep patronizing bars and womanizing then you expect results…our colleagues from west Africa especially the muslim they are very disciplined when it comes to such issues..i feel its one of the reason why they excel.
That is what am trying to say now the queen’s language my man is a challenge to me I guess, point on @Chipolopolo Bullet.
Watching the game yesterday, I was lost of words. Its true that our Players do not have a mental character for conquering. The physical aspect also is a source of concern as could be seen that most of them are paper-weight. I feel, these players need to take responsibility on their professionalism , like knowing what to eat and setting a physical fitness level as per demand of the game. Its high time clubs hired physical trainers and nutritionists so that excellence starts on the Zambian league level. And its high time the school league kick-started as it will be the best nursery for our Chipolopolo.
@discipline…you funny ..lol
hahaahahahahahahhahhahahhahahhahahhhhahahhahahahahhahahahahahahhahhhahahahaahhahahahhahahahahahahhahhahhahahhaahha..u17,u20,u23,men national team, female national team..all eliminated in first round and qualifies within 4 month..what a wow
My beloved country will be there to defend the title it won 4years ago. Go black meteors. Go Ghana. Congrat to our over hyped neighbours for living up to the hype to keep the Southerners mouth zipped
Shit, shit, shit !!! All those of you who support shit happening in Zambian football in the name of patrotism shud be ashamed of yourselves. Supporting shit, mediocrity and failures does not mean you are patrotic. My plea to the Ghanian bloggers on this site is please go to Ghana soccernet and invite more ghanians and Nigerians bloggers to come and lough at this Great nation of COMEDY where people have adopted failure as their success. oh God,punish this country which full of people who can not see and learn from their previous mistakes,AMEN.
Naked goal, aren’t u going too far by invoking God here? It’s just a game . Our passion for it should not overshadow our purpose in life Ghanaians have flooded this site becos of the actions of two individuals. Personally my love for the nation of Zambia is in sharp contrast to what l write here on football. Sometimes too blunt but only for the game & nothing on towards the nation of Zambia itself.
@Paradox you have shown true maturity in your comment,Ghanians have much love for the continent and all within it,continue to give constructive criticism to our Zambian brothers so they can also learn to move forward..FAZ MUST GO.
@gh paradox
@Ghana Paradox & Papa jizz, i salute you for that piece of advice,Its just that i can not take it any more. we fail to point at the real source of problems when everything is clear. how do you solve a problem when you do the same mistake over and over ? I admire the way football is taken in Ghana. Good administration(serious with business) good coach which leads to a strong team. Look at us ? The whole lot of zambian football smells corruption, theft and selfishness. There is no sign of any change despite the embarrassment and humiliation we are going through. We can not learn to be honest. The most shocking part is to see people incharge of runing football behave as if everything is fine.
