Ng’onga’s goal gets CAF Awards Nomination

Zambian forward Alex ‘Bazo’ Ng’onga’s goal has been nominated for CAF Goal of the Year.

Ng’onga’s goal against Real Bamako in a CAF Confederation Cup Group D  stage tie back in February is among the 12 goals set to compete for the CAF Awards 2023 Goal of the Year award.

Ng’onga scored a spectacular strike in the 38th minute to put Mazembe in the lead after Souleymane Coulibaly had leveled matters following Jephte Bola Kitambala opener.

Second half substitute Patient Mwamba added a third in the dying minutes to complete the 3-1 win.

An expert panel selected 12 amazing goals from the various CAF competitions to be voted for by the sporting public.

Football fans will have the last say on who walks away with the CAF Goal of the Year category for the 2023 CAF Awards as voting is open for the next few days.

The public vote account for 70 per cent of the process, making the award special compared to other categories.

The other 30 per cent is decided by CAF Technical Experts.

Voting opened yesterday via the CAF website and closes on 8 December 2023.
