Nathan Sinkala confident Chipolopolo will reach AFCON Semi finals

Switzerland based midfielder Nathan Sinkala believes Zambia has what it takes to reach the semi-finals at next year’s African Cup of Nations.

Speaking exclusively to Zambianfootball.co.zm from his base, the 2012 AFCON winner also urged the Chipolopolo faithful to believe in the current side.

“I ‘m very confident we will reach the semi-finals. There’s quality in the team,” the 24 year old told the ZamFoot Crew.

When asked if lack of experience in the current Chipolopolo set up might work against the side, the former Green Buffaloes midfielder said he doesn’t think so.

The Chipolopolo vice-Captain is currently on the books of Swiss side Grasshoppers where he is on-loan from TP Mazembe.

Look out for his full interview with the ZamFoot Crew as talks about a number of issues including Andrew Sinkala.

  1. OK. Good call Nathan. However we need to strengthen the squad as well as the technical bench if we are to achieve something meaningful in EG.

      • Joe Bidden, I have not time answering a useless person like you. Don’t bring unnecessary moronic arguments. Are you paid to shoot down every comment somebody brings about? Do you think Janza will be sacked? Think!!!!

  2. Chipolopolo current crop is not balanced and its time to assemble a possible stronger squad to afcon 2015. The game with Mozambique just exposed our defense with little created scoring chances .Nathan is not telling the truth here maybe is a captain of the team.its not only the technical bench or players who could see the performance but also Fans, therefore, Janza should bring back Jacob Mulenga,Joseph Musonda,Mukuka Mulenga and Mbesuma. We won’t afford to take unexperianced team to afcon.

  3. Thats the attitude we need in players, Nathan is calm and hard working, as he said yes being forcused I dont see them not reaching semis even finals. About the team composition I still believe we really need the likes of Chris Katongo, his brother or Jacob who I feel hes struggling finding the net of late. Beefing up the defense is a must and part of the midfield strikers are fine. A question or just thinking is the youngman Patson Daka part of the E.Q bound team… is it fine to include him as part of the striking force regardless his U17?

  4. Zamfoot, I have observed that there some individuals who are bringing unnecessary quarrels on this site. One is that boy paradox. He attacked me in previous articles. I responded but you deleted my comments, We don’t want this site to be like others where insults dominate. Some boys want to be seen as owners of the site by rubbishing other people’s comments. Maybe they have work for Zamfoot, thats why you dont delete their comments when they insult others.

  5. Some of us have been on this site since it’s inception.
OK Zamfoot, I hear you. Sorry for my harsh words. But please also warn that small boy @paradox. He needs to respect others. We need to debate issues with civility unless carrying unnecessary grudges against people we don’t even know and will never know. This is just a sporting website where people share ideas. Thanks.

  6. hahahahahahahahahahaahaaa. This SIN kid KALA has spoke some sense. Semi final is too enough a realistic target for Zambia. The only things that can shun this dream are the teams in GROUP A and B. 7 manageable teams. Why not the finals? cause there is hell out there and only serious teams are in those groups. But I dont see Zambia beating DR Congo and Tunisia maybe playing Cape Verde a 3rd time in some few months might help. But its gonig to be tough.

  7. Pliz leave out Munthali and D Malama, they belong to Nkana and the standards at national level are high! Kondwani Mtonga shud be recalled if he recovers, Mukuka Mulenga and maybe King David as well

    • Semi final is fine. I feel thats just a target he is setting but doesn’t mean thats his actual aim. They can go above the target. Herve Renard had also set a semi final at the AFCON 2012. Even in our activity implementation at work we set targets which are not 100% achievement but we aim at going above our set targets.

  8. no coach or player is thinking of the final yet, sinkala is right let us move step by step.passing through the group stage is the most important thing, from there anything can happen. i think he meant (quarter finals)

  9. Yes, we shall play the semi finals as long as we make it to the quater finals. Group A has weak teams which we shall meet in 1/4 finals. Thats what Sinkala meant.
@ Billy Mwanza, leave Paradox alone.

  10. Okay ba Zambia Football I hope you will find my opinion meaningful. Let us get to talking about what one would consider the best Zambian side from the late 1980s to the current. At least most of us bloggers have had the privilege to watch the Zambian team from the late 80s to the current team.
As for me this would be my lineup. The lineup will be a 4-3-3

    Efford Chabala

John Soko Stophilla Sunzu Eston Mulenga Hilary makasa

    Derby Makinka
    Charles Musonda Rainford Kalaba

Timothy Mwitwa Kelvin Mutale Kalusha Bwalya
