Mayuka features for Saints in home loss to Manchester United

Emmanuel Mayuka made a second half appearance for his club Southampton in their 2 – 1 home loss to former premiership champions Manchester United.

The Saints who started the game on third position went a goal down in the 12th minute when Robin Van Persie pounced on a loosed back pass to slot home.

They pulled one back through Pelle before Va Persie completed his brace in the 71st minute.

Mayuka was introduced in the 79th minute for Shane Long but the chances were still few and far between for him to get to create any clear sight on goal.

Mayuka has made four successive substitute appearances but is yet to take advantage of the chances given to hit the target.

  1. In their 1-0 Loss or 2-1 loss ba Zamfoot? Anyways I believe Mayuka must be given more minutes in a game in order for him to make , impact. 10 minutes is not enough.

    • I concur with you bro. 10 minutes is enough for a professional to make an impact. Mayuka should seriously take advantage of his cameos otherwise if he continues on the path of not bringing anything to the table, he is likely going to be completely sidelined. Though it’s a good sign he’s making the team though nima ten minutes.

  2. Ten minutes is not enough yes but at least he is on the bench and is getting valuable game time regardless of the amount. The amount of game time will keep increasing slowly and it will jump to over 60 minutes the day he gets a goal. I’m really hoping he gets a goal before mid-january when he comes down to Africa for the Afcon.

  3. Mayuka needs more time but meanwhile we need a second dependable striker to partner Sate Sate… Its time to look seriously at Evans Kangwa and Roger Kola (trials and see what he can do).. Agony would be to find out at the AFCON that its not just time that Mayuka needs.. Yes he’s proven in the past but 1 goal in I dont know how many matches for both club and country is not a good statistic for a striker… Make hay while the sun shines.. My 2 cents worth.

    • I agree with you mwana. Mayuka is not the best. He used to be. We never plan B like yesterday and yes Sate Sate and Kangwa can lay claim to that. Strikers bang in goals from left, right and center and Mayuka is not doing that for some time.

    • John.. he could be but what we need are goals and ruthlessness in front of goal. Its bad enough that our defense can easily be put in 6s and 7s by average strikers.. Im not asking for Mayuka to be dropped no im I calling him names (can never forget that sweet kick that sent Ghana packing). Im simply saying lets get the best of the best. As a fan of the movie Troy I’ll say “This will be the battle of our time, we need the best warriors”.

  4. The coach needs to give Mayuka a few games to try and prove himself. Those ten minutes he is getting won’t help him at all. The game was shut out by the time he was brought on. He only gained a corner for his side.

    • Add Roger Kola….save we have not seen him play proper so ungadabwe he fails to blend mu team…as many preps as possible is the key otherwise we have great players.

  5. the guy is simply not cut for the epl.why are u guys forcing him.very soon he will pack all his bags back home since his contract will not be renewed.
    he is a local champion.

  6. Purely on Form Jacob Mulenga is the best striker we have right now. The other have more potential but Jacob is the only one performing…..

  7. you cant drop mayuka .i am sure Mr koman his coach has seen something in mayuka thats why he has continued to play continously, iam sure he wants him to regain his form like when he was at young boys,in due time he wil be playing 90 or 80 minutes and those who are saying that he be droped will be praising him.

  9. You people are not serious Jacob mulenga is not a good striker he failed against cape Verde and mozambique. He lacks speed and mobility which Mayuka gives us even if he doesn’t score. Mayuka is the reason zambia won afcon 2012. Jacob mulenga is not good enough.

  10. Ask yourselves if Mayuka was injured and Jacob was available in 2012 do you think zambia would have won afcon. The answer is simple Jacob can’t win afcon for zambia.

  11. Mayuka, best strker Zambia has??? my foot. Mayuka is no where near Sate sate. When they recently played togather for zambia, it was very clear that ronald was head and shoulders above him. the only images we saw of mayuka is him falling all over the place at the slightest touch and him complaining about his feeders placing the ball wrongly at his feet. on the other hand, Sate sate took a badly supplied ball twisted and turned like the stilthy preditor he is an burned the back of the net. nuff said, no moaning, no complaints.
mayuka needs to find his mojo again.

  12. oh,did i mention that zambia got sweet revenge over cape verde with that sate sate goal. not to mention that less than 24 hours the following day after bein on a bus to kitwe, he scored for nkana. i understand some pipo are trying to get him in the guiness book of world records for that.

  13. Sate Sate and Evans Kangwa are the twin strikers Zambia needs at 2015 Afcon. The pair is capable of giving trouble to any defence in the world. IWE JANZA DON’T GO TO SLEEP, TRY THIS RECIPE.
