After a successful 2019/20 season where they were strong league contenders, Napsa stars were expected to continue their high playing spirit going into the 2020/21 but have been a disappointment so far with the club only picking up three points from four games and currently languishing in 17th position on the FAZ/MTN Super League table.
The Pensioners however in the last one week had a break from League football and were on Continental duty were they came alive humiliating Ngazi Sport of Comoros 9-2 on aggregate to progress to the second preliminary round where they will face UD Songo of Mozambique.
They return to Zambian super league action tomorrow Wednesday 11th December as it enters week 9 in the match of the day facing Sensational Zanaco.
The tricky Lusaka derby has been scheduled for a lunchtime kickoff at Nkoloma Stadium with heavy rains in Lusaka affecting the earlier plan of having the match at Sunset Stadium.
Napsa stars captain Dickson Chapa has expressed confidence that his team will rise to the occasion and pick up some variable points away.
“Looking at our current position on the league table where we are in the relegation zone, tomorrow’s match against Zanaco is very important as we really need to win to come out of that position,” he said.
“We need to pick up from our last two victories in the CAF Confederations Cup and take that winning mentality into the league, to the CAF games were the turning point and so happy that the confidence is back in camp and we can now start to pick up maximum points,” he said.
The Pensioners will be hoping to continue their good run against Zanaco as they have won all their last three games against the Bankers and last lost to Zanaco back in 2016, 2-1.
