Zambia Super League side, NAPSA Stars have today launched a Women’s football team. NAPSA Stars Queens will be campaigning in the FAZ Lusaka Provincial Women’s League.

NAPSA Stars technical director and club General Secretary, Honor Janza declared the team ready to start their campaign in the second tier of Zambian Women’s football.

“We started assembling the team in September. We have finally managed to get a slot from FAZ. We are very happy. Our team is very ready to play. We have five games to catch up on,” he said.

“We feel that we have assembled quite a good team that will be able to adhere to the task ahead. Our vision is to ensure that the Women’s team also upholds the cooperate image of NAPSA like the men’s team and if anything go beyond,” Janza added.

Also present at the event were FAZ Deputy General Secretary Joseph Chimpampwe, TD Lyson Zulu, and FAZ Women’s Desk Coordinator Janet Bwalya.

FAZ Technical Director, Lyson Zulu said the launch of the Women’s team by NAPSA was a huge milestone and urged other Super League teams to follow suit.

“This is a huge milestone in terms of football in our country. Super League teams in the country should emulate what you have done today,” Zulu said.

“We need to increase the participation of women in our game. And if all the super league teams can emulate and create women teams, then we are giving a girl child a platform to play football.” Zulu added.

“Hopefully, from there we can pick the talent that can represent us at National team level,” he concluded.

Napsa Stars womens football team head Coach Enala Simbeye Phiri, who has previously coached the Copper Queens promised to do her best and deliver for her team.

“I am happy to be where I am today as the head coach of NAPSA Stars Queens football club. This is my passion. This is what am good at, and to be recognized I really appreciate NAPSA for that. I can only promise the best.” she stated.
