Mwepu hopeful 2022 World Cup qualification

Zambia National team midfielder Enock Mwepu believes the Copper Bullets can qualify for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Mwepu feels the elusive World Cup qualification can be attained despite the failure to qualify to the Cameroon 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

“I believe we can qualify to the World Cup because we have a group that is trying to work extra hard, a group that is passionate, a group that knows what lies ahead,” Mwepu told FAZ media.

“We have learned so much in these failures to qualify to the AFCON, we know the pain in our hearts. I see a new team that will take us to another level, only if everybody has the right mentality, showing the character of winning, shows good attitude on and off the pitch, I think this is going to take us to the World Cup.”

Mwepu said the team needs refining to ensure that it is in the best condition to qualify for the World Cup.

“Our focus is to have stability in the team and keep the consistency. That will help us qualify for the World Cup,” he said.

The Chipolopolo boys finished third in Group H with seven points while Algeria topped the group with 14 points with Zimbabwe getting eight points while Botswana was rock bottom with four points.

The failure means Zambia has failed to qualify for Africa’s prestigious competition three times in a row, 2017, 2019, and 2021.

  1. The road is not a smooth sailing considering that zambia they have no coach. The current coach is figjting players . And some of the player they do not like him. Everytime he goes into camp he end up with differces with player. Kabaso, sinkala and mulenga these are senior andexperienced players they dont deserve dog treatment.. faz should look into this shit. Why kabaso play better at club level and he fail to transfer that form to national team..

  2. Kikikikkikikiki drama at its level best.Experiments aren’t good when you even know that you waisting tax payers money.it really hurts coz Micho at the end of the day gets his full package regardless of a win or draw.We need a serious coach, not just having hickups with players here and there.
