Mukuka opens account as Zambian stars progress in Nedbank Cup

Mukuka Mulenga was on target for his South African club Mpumalanga Black Aces as he helped them to a 7 – 0 demolishing of amateurs United Rovers on Sunday to ease into the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup competition.

The 22 year old attacking midfielder was named in the starting line-up and he seized the opportunity to score his first goal since moving to South Africa against the minnows.

Bongo Jayiya, a 2nd half substitute scored a hat-trick, while Aubrey Ngoma grabbed a brace with Nonyane Lehlohonolo scoring once.

Aces captain Collins Mbesuma missed the match as he was serving a suspension.

Kennedy Mweene again did not get to play as Mamelodi Sundowns snatched a 1 – 0 victory of NFD side Highlands Park. Mamelodi Sundowns first choice goalkeeper Dennis Onyango was the deserved man of the match in the game.

Mwape Musonda was also in the starting line-up when Golden Arrows progressed to the next around of the Nedbank Cup with a 2 – 1 win over Milford. He however did not finish the match as he was substituted for Sibiya.

National team call up Davies Nkausu did not play for Free State Stars in their 2 – 1 win over Ajax Cape Town in the Cup game.

Allan Mukuka and Bornwell Mwape’s Amazulu will be in action on Tuesday in the cup competition.

  1. I really want to root for Mukuka, but its hard right now. He might just not be that good. Maybe its time to consider a move to somewhere else, because this is not working. Starting and scoring a goal in a game against an amateur side means zero. The boy has just not been the same since that COSAFA Cup he starred in.

    • True….I’m starting to have a funny feeling about MM’s ability…I just wonder what could have gone sosoooooooo wrong in the space of two and half years. That match is not even worth reporting….

  2. Players make more money from club football, and not national team. National team appearances are much for pride. Your national team appearance just raises ur country’s flag at most. But consistent National team appearance in 1st eleven also raises players’ transfer fees. This Musonda Jnr may even gain more playing for Zambia than Belgium. Examples are there for evryone to see. Musonda Snr knws Zambia is the way to go, that’s why he needs assurance from Kalu. Kalu should come and clear things that the boy can play for Zambia. Not doing so, will expose Kalu’s pride and arrogance.
