Mukuka Mulenga faces uncertain future

Mukuka Mulenga faces an uncertain future after Bloemfontein Celtic turned down the chance to sign him on loan again.

The Zambian midfielder is out of the picture at Sundowns and has not been registered for the season.

He spent last season on loan at Celtic, making 19 appearances and scoring four goals, but club CEO Khumbulani Konco says they signed too many players who fulfill a similar role.

“We did well with our signings this season,” Konco tells KickOff.com. “He [Mulenga] did well for us last season, but it would not have made sense to sign him again when we have other capable players in the same position.”

Mulenga joined Sundowns as a high-profile signing at the start of 2013/14, with Pitso Mosimane signing his praises and calling him “a general and an exceptional player”, but the Zambian has never quite got his chance at Chloorkop.

  1. We all rallied behind for this boy to go to Israel and join his friends, what did power do?..they went for the money..its so funny that u become clubless when the transfer window is closed..come back home, power is ready to abuse u one more time!

  2. I HATE SUNDOWNS WITH MY WHOLE HEART AND APART FROM GIFT KAMPAMBA THE CLUB HAS NOT HELPED ANY OTHER ZAMBIAN PLAYER PROPERLY.

  3. it was hh, now its mukuka our players shud aim high not mone. The guy was better off in isreal, y did they keep him long if they knew the had no plans 4 him.

  4. Sundowns has this tendency of finishing off players careers or destroying them..just recently Mushekwi had offers from turkey, sweden and Asia but they turned them down even though he isnt registered for the season….same thing is happening with Mahachi,Ejike,Nomandela,Mbatha, mukuka etc…these are highly telented players, our players should never join sundowns..they destroy careers..goot teams to join are Wits, orlando, supesport and Ajax

  5. This is a set back for the boy if at all it is true. Maybe the Family that had an issue by pressurising Power Dynamos should now join the party. Mukuka’s family as I recall were really angry at Power officials, asking why Power would not let him go

The way I look at Sundowns is that the club has no professionalism in the process of the recruitment of players. It is not only Zambians but even those from within SA. How can one explain such happenings and so many times. There is something very wrong

    This does not sound nor look good for the player, as there are only 2 choices for him and Sundowns and these are as follows;

    1. It is either Sundowns buy off Mukuka’s contract and pay him for the reminder of the contract, then he will be a free agent to find another club

    2. Mukuka can decide to remain at the club and let them pay his salary, until the next transfer Window

By the way who is Mukuka’s agent and what has been he/she been doing all this time? Mukuka’s agent must be ichikopo sana. He should have come on the scene way back. Some things I do not understand

Mukuka I won’t blame neither nor Power, but your family members and Sundowns

  6. Our players hav been failing 2 make it in europe and now they are even failin 2 make it in SA this is serious. Mukuka was talented bt nw he has lost touch wit reality its high tym Zed players started takin things seriously. We can’t blame faz on mukuka or mayuka this is about player input. Nobody hates Zambian players but they themselves.

  7. @Ba Mwalife nai mwe, Mulenga is still young, that is life, green pasture on the other side could be brown. We need to support our players who are strangling to make ends meet. My best advise is to join ZSL. And find your form.

  8. LUBAMBO IN, MBOLA, KANGWA DOUBTFUL FOR KENYA CLASH

Armenia based Lubambo Musonda has joined the Chipolopolo camp with the availability of Israel based Emmanuel Mbola and Evans Kangwa looking doubtful.

Musonda who plies his trade with FC Gandzasar Kapan was part of the morning session leaving only two pieces of the puzzle for coach George Lwandamina to have all his call ups in.

The Under-20 captain’s arrival brings the number of the foreign based call ups to 10 with Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba left out for disciplinary reasons according to Football House sources.

Kampamba has been in town since the Zambia Under-23 side played Ivory Coast in an Olympic Games qualifier on August 1 at Nkoloma Stadium.

The official spin around the conspicuous absence of Kampamba is that since he has played five consecutive games for the national team therefore his club is not obliged to release him despite the player being in the country.

Meanwhile the Chipolopolo boys played a practice match against amateur side Circuit City which proved worthwhile mock target practice with a harvest of 8-1 goals.

While there is no need to read too much in the games that saw different sets of players lined up Lwandamina had Kennedy Mweene goal with Stoppilla Sunzu and Aaron Katebe put at the heart of defence while youngsters Boyd Mkandawire and Benedict Chepeshi were preferred on the right and left back positions during the first set.

Three goals for Green Buffaloes’ Friday Samu, a brace each for the ever present Patson Daka and Winston Kalengo while Mbesuma also helped himself to a goal with Circuit City goal coming from Aaron Mwansa.

midfield there was there was Nathan Sinkala and Kondwani while skipper Rainford Kalaba and Lubambo Musonda were deployed in the wings.

Collins Mbesuma was deployed upfront as a lone striker with Chisamba Lungu given a supporting role.

In another central defence partnership tried out there was Christopher Munthali and Buchizya Mfune.

Lwandamina continued to shuffle his cards with all the players eventually having their run.

The final team is expected to be named tomorrow with departure for Nairobi set for Friday.

  9. there is no element of seriousness and to me its more like street theater.some they are not in right frame, some they were being excused for playing so many games, some they are being marketed ,some they might not come and some were barred.

  10. Allow me to echo my say on Mukuka Mulenga, he was ill advised to join sundowns for a quick financial gain without looking at the next of step player development moreover, i recall KALU and the agent (Kiran) who deals for kangwa ,mbola and mayuka in lsrael making statements to why he was rushed to join sundowns when the was an offer to play in lsrael, seasoned critcs came out from the( uwendo ) hole and shamed kalu that he keying up a (gwagu) percentage cut by questioning his move to sundowns well look at it now his career is in doubt sundowns don’t want him

  11. Sundowns killed his career and the injury he had after joining sundowns ddnt help either, even him on loan @ celtic he was good but not excellent to force celtic’s hand to take back again…..even now Bongani zungu has an offer from portugal giants and as usual sundwons wont release him

  12. Yes Sundowns have a reputation of killing players careers but then again we cant overlook two other issues when it comes to Mukuka

    1. The over a season long injury he had
    2. The fact that he didn’t set the league alight with his stint at Celtics.

The Sundowns coach rated the boy very highly, had he not had the injury for that length of time under Pitso he certainly was headed for good game time. The coach sang lots of praises but the injury spoiled the party. His stint in the Freestate at Bloem Celtic didn’t work out either. He was often on the bench and although had very good flashes of brilliance when on the field he didn’t play over and above expectation as is expected of foreign players in the PSL.

We can throw stones at Sundowns and in most cases justifiably so but on Mukuka truth be told his career undoing in the PSL is largely attributed to his season long injury.

I don’t think he will have a shortage of offers in the PSL, teams like Chippa and Ajax look for this sort of talent only problem is no one will pay him the $10,000 a month he is getting at Sundowns.

  13. Of all the concerned parties, only Mulenga’s family, and the long injury are to blame for his predicament. But he is still young and could come back to Zambia and re-kindle his talent.

  14. Very very sad! without a doubt MM is of the most talented player Zambia has produced in the last 5 years. I pray he finds the inner strength to fight back and gets to the place where he deserves to be. He must be inspired by greats such as Nwankwo Kanu who came back from being declared unfit with a life threatening heart defect to play for Arsenal in the BPL.

  15. When we say sundown is a lion den of club some people were saying no zambian players are lazy look what has happen to mukuka mulenga now kennedy mweene is next let’s wait and see
