Zambia Super League games this weekend will observe a minute of silence in honor of Brazilian legend, Edson Arantes do Nascimento popularly
known as Pele.
This is a directive from the World Football governing body, FIFA in honor of the great Pele.
This is according to a memo by Zambian Premier League manager Brian Mulenga accessed by the ZamFoot Crew.
“By order of FIFA, all matches will hold in minute of silence this weekend and
next weekend in honour of Mr Edson Arantes do Nascimento popularly
known as Pele who passed away recently.”
Pele was a three-time World Cup winner (1958,1962 and 1970) during his twenty-one-year career which ran from 1956 to 1977.
During his playing career, he also scored 1,279 goals in the 1,363 games he played in and was arguably the greatest player in history.
Pele passed on late last year aged 82 after losing a battle to colon cancer.
