Morocco hand Renard three year deal

Former Chipolopolo Boys coach Herve Renard has signed a three year deal with Morocco.

The two times African Cup of Nations winning coach is expected to qualify the Atlas Lions to the 2017 African Cup of Nations.

His long time serving assistant Patrice Beaumulle is expected follow him to Morocco despite being heavily linked with the Zambia job.

The Morocco Royal Football Federation (FRMF) announced the appointment of the former Ivory Coast and Zambia manager on Tuesday.

The president of the federation, Fouzi Lekjaa, unveiled the Frenchman at a press conference.

Lekjaa stated that the Frenchman’s major targets as Morocco gaffer will be to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, reach the semifinals of same tournament and also qualify for the 2018 Fifa World Cup finals in Russia.

The Frenchman will work with Patrice Beaumelle and Mustapha Hadji as his assistants in Morocco, and could earn as much as €65,000 as monthly salary.

He had been linked with the head coach role of Cameroon and even Kazakhstan before he is named as Morocco trainer.

Last month, Renard told the ZamFoot Crew that he would relish a return to Zambia for a third stint.

“With Zambia it’s not a problem of money, it’s a feeling,” Renard said in January.

Renard won the 2012 and 2015 Afcon editions with Zambia and Ivory Coast respectively, and was manager of French Ligue 1, Lille OSC, until November last year when he was sacked.

  1. HR’s has a simple recipe for success in Africa…it’s part psychological and part physical i.e. a large dose of combative attitude and hard play. He clearly realised after working in Ghana that African players are a bit short of those 2 qualities that are paradoxically very easy to impart. He made our boys do the Haka and psyched up them so well before that final in 2012. He also lined up that afternoon some of hardest and toughest Chipolopolo boys he had in the Afcon squad.

He’ll do the same with Morocco and it will work! Tactically he doesn’t bring much to a team. He knows very well that once you are the champion, people don’t remember how you won…but only think of you as the best. Mark my word, HR is on his way to become a true coaching legend on the continent…Never 2 without 3.

  2. Ze football is nice in africa,ze renard deserves a country which can take hin to world cup.not kawayawaya country.gud decision renard

  3. Zambia is the only country that I know that is so backward. Even Congo have hired an experienced coach. If Morocco can afford to pay an average coach 65,000 euros a month we can’t even afford to pay 20,000 dollars a month for a good coach. Zambia has too much poverty no wonder the students rioted a few weeks ago. Money is just being chewed amongst a greedy few politicians.

  4. The game in Zambia has gone to the Dogs. You cannot hv an illiterate running soccer, bribing his way to Football house with such a dirty record. We need someone who can articulate football issues in such a way that the corporate world wud buy into it. Currently they want to keep a safe distance from the criminally tainted FAZ.

  5. Vincent Mwale is a coward ,actually miss kambweili he would sourced some funds to pay the coach not this ka boyish minister without a vision.

  6. Landamin’s team is playing like that guy’s team…that one, the Italian guy who played for Juve…what’s his name?? That chap who took us to FIFA – Dario Boneti! No difference! But he has the job you know.

  7. Congrats Renard mu Zambia ni mbwenya so kuwayawaya buyo. We can’t afford anything unless its 4 free and wen we fail ni back 2 the over-drawn drawing board. #kutitwachitashani

  11. at Abram, well keep on talking about him for u have missed him badly, but u need to be reminded that talking about him at the expense of talking about getting a new coach leaves u a lot to be desired.no one needs to be told frm your comment that u are still relishing on your past glories instead of thinking on hw to make new achievements.what a moment of delutionary contemplation u have found ur self.
