Mixed reactions from coaches in Nkana draw against Buffaloes

By Precious Bwale

It was a mouth-watering encounter at Nkana’s Chilata Stadium, where the Zambia army-sponsored side, Green Buffaloes came from behind twice to level matters and rescue a point against the record 13-time champions, Nkana.

Two goals from the penalty spot by Friday Samu was all that was needed to share points with the home side Nkana, with their goals coming from the reborn Ronald ‘Sate-Sate’ Kampamba and striker Alex ‘Bazo’ N’gonga.

After the match the ZamFoot Crew caught up with Buffaloes boss Justin Chinama who was not disappointed with the result despite not getting maximum points in three games as the team continues to aspire to be top of the league table.

“We played well, coming from behind twice means we are on a good course, we were focused despite conceding those goals and that’s how a team, that’s aspiring to be on top should be,” he said.

“We need to reorganize in the midfield, the defense and upfront we are just okay, the goals we conceded are just defensive errors, nevertheless we will come back stronger after the break.

Meanwhile, Kalampa Head coach Beston Chambeshi was not impressed with the officiating and blamed the referee for the draw.

“Sadly, the game has ended in a draw, if it went further Buffaloes would have scored more penalties because somehow the referee was not on his best today,” he said.

Nevertheless, QuickSilver is impressed with the teams’ hard work and improvements but showered praises on the defense force.

“It was an entertaining game, am happy that we scored two goals compared to our previous matches where we could only score one, which means the combination is working,” he said.

“The defenders are the most improved, they have stabilized and are not conceding goals, which is very good, and I can’t blame them for the penalties that came through,” he continued.

Green buffaloes have continued to lead the ZSL table unbeaten in ten games with Nkana now in 5th position and 8 points behind the leaders who are leading the log with 22 points.
