FAZ Women’s League: Green Buffaloes thrash Red Arrows to go top

Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club reclaimed top spot in the 2020/21 FAZ Women’s Super League after humiliating Red Arrows Women’s Football Club 5-0 on Monday at Lusaka’s Nkoloma Stadium.

League second top Goalscorer Theresa Chewe scored a brace in the first half to make it 2-0 to Buffaloes.

After the break, Ethel Chama extended the lead with a third goal slotting home in an empty net before Lubasi Pumulo added the 4th goal with all four goals coming mainly because of miscommunication at the back.

Chewe completed her hattrick with the 5th goal for Buffaloes with a brilliant header from Captain Joana Benaya’s corner kick and her 23rd goal overall in the league, 4 Goals behind top Goalscorer Grace Chanda of Arrows who is on 27 goals as Buffaloes recorded an emphatic and historical 5-0 victory over third-placed Arrows who were chasing shadows throughout the match.

Arrows’ next assignment is against Stubborn YASA Queens away in Kalingalinga while Buffaloes will host Lusaka Dynamos at Green Square Ground in Arakan on Thursday.

Buffaloes are now leading the table with 50 points, 2 better than second-placed ZESCO Ndola Girls while Arrows are third with 44 points at par with Lusaka Dynamos who are fourth but only separated on goal difference and Indeni Roses close the top 5 blankets with 37 points.
