Mediterranean call up! Chambeshi to drill Chipolopolo in friendly matches

Nkana coach Beston “Quicksilver” Chambeshi will be in charge of the Chipolopolo next month as Zambia sample the Mediterranean climate.

According to the ZamFoot Crew sources in Casablanca, Morocco, a list submitted by the Football Association of Zambia, FAZ indicates that the Zambia Under-23 coach will temporally take charge of the Chipolopolo Boys in the absence of caretaker coach Aggrey Chiyangi.

Chiyangi is in charge of a locally assembled Zambia side which will leave for South Africa on Tuesday ahead of the Cosafa Cup quarter finals.

With Chiyangi trying to navigate, Zambia’s first Cosafa Cup title since 2013, the senior Chipolopolo Boys will be preparing for friendly matches.

Zambia’s first stop will be in Morocco where the 2012 African Cup of Nations will play Herve Renard’s men and Gambia.

The Kennedy Mweene captained side will wrap up their Mediterranean tour with a date against Clarence Seedorf’s Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in Madrid.

The three matches will be played between June 9-18.

While Zambia failed to qualify to the African Cup of Nations in Egypt, the trio Morocco, Gambia and Cameroon will feature at Africa’s biggest football showpiece.

Meanwhile the local players have resumed camp in Lusaka.

Chiyangi’s boys are expected to have two training sessions on Monday before the team’s departure to South Africa on Tuesday.

  1. Wrong move coz Chambeshi has proved in the past that he’s not fit to drill the national teams. His technical know how of the modern game is very poor..

  2. Why not Chris K to do that? Thease are friendly games. We can try other coaches as well. Chisi Mudaala Mbewe could be another option.
