Collins Mbesuma is leading the way in this year’s Absa Premiership Golden Boot race, and could become the fifth player to bag 100 goals in South African football.
The Zambian has 97 goals to his name in South Africa after his 14-goal haul so far this season, and needs just three more to join Mabhudi Khenyeza, Siyabonga Nomvethe, Daniel Mudau and Manuel Bucuane as scoring centurions.
Mbesuma, 32, – who is one of few players to play for all of Mzansi’s ‘Big Three’ – could also become the only player in the PSL era to manage to land the Golden Boot on two occasions, even more remarkably the two wins would come over a decade apart after he last won the award in 2004/05 when he scored 25 goals for Kaizer Chiefs.
Mbesuma is on course to getting the top scorers title this season.
Ajax Cape Town’s Prince Nxumalo is in 2nd place with 11 strikes, while SuperSport United’s Jeremy Brockie and Thobani Mncwango of Polokwane City are tied on 10 goals.

Don’t look back Kind David…fight on and win the award, you deserve it…and well done!
But he did’nt play in the visiting team yesterday when his team beat Maritzburg utd, but Mukuka Mulenga came in. Watchiing him closely, Mulenga has lost form but I though his header in the box contributed to his team’s second.
Yep king d did not play last night please ba zamfoot please up date us as to why our main man did not feature.
Excellent King David!….we all heart broken by his failed EPL adventure and very unconvincing return to the PSL a couple of years back. We are once again proud of him. It proves that Fwayo is not beyond redemption…CM has demonstrated it!
the epl is not everything the best players on the planet have not played in the epl bear in mind we are a former british colony and dstv has a lot of presence in former colonies i think his coach rednapp did not just understand him in portugal he regained form .
