Emmanuel Mayuka’s 2014/2015 season in the English Premier League may have ended following the injury he sustained on international duty with the Zambia national team.
According to Southampton manager Ronald Koeman, Mayuka may need an operation for his injury.
“He came back from the Africa Cup with some groin problems and normally he would get an operation,” Keoman said
When asked if that keeps him out for the remainder of the campaign Koeman replied: “I think so.”
However, Mayuka remained optimistic of his situation stating that he will be back stronger than ever.
“In God’s name I will be back stronger than never before,” Mayuka stated.
Mayuka is already on the mend at his base in England. The injury is a blow to the striker as he has already struggled for goals despite making substitute appearances for the club placed third in the log.

Iam also afraid his ‘prime time’ might be over as he is already being sidelined at his club and total play time is as good as zero. AFCON 2015 would have revived his mojo, now I dont know – he will go to China!
He should insist to go on loan to a first division team and prove himself again, get some confidence going forward…
He still has gas in his tank… he can still come back but needs to recoil back to lower leagues – again.
Mayuka should stop vowing and leave southampton. He is a real talent and capable of scoring goals but he is wasting at the saints he should change clubs. Zamfoot must carry two other big stories. The first one is that fwayo tembo has gone back to Romania. He is back in europe with his club astra. The second story zamfoot must cover is that the draw of the Fifa under 20 world cup has been conducted. It will be interesting to see where African teams can find themselves.
I guess Zamfoot is ‘listening’ and do their usual home work and feed us with the U20 draws.
Here you go girls and boys… http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/31374020
kikikikikik thanks
Too bad for Mayuka. Wishing you a quick recovery. Its good you are being positive about the future. Work hard and the results will come easily.
ever since he scored againest ghana, he has never been the same
keke
For once i have to agree with all bloggers here, everything you have said john and paradox. The injury is a set back to some exciting times, but Mayuka needs to temper the excitment and concentrate on his game product and what he gives the team. Mayuka is Zambia highest and best export as it stands and he needs to try insure he can go from success to succcess. He has allot of desire and that shows and now once recovered he should balance that economy and quality.
Balence that(desire) with economy and quality in his game.
He is best our best export next to Nathan and we must see them have success.
This guy has lost a lot of his confidence since his move to England. He has not been the same player, and I think it comes down to the environment and mental strength. He is putting too much pressure on himself. Mayuka is physically gifted, but he needs a physiotherapist just as much as he needs a motivator and psychologist to bring the best out of him in England. Every game I have watched, he seems to be playing in 2nd gear. Never hits that 3rd or 4th gear. If you’ve watched recent games where he came off the bench, he almost tries to emulate Pelle and stay in the penalty area, but that is not how he has played when he has been at his best. In the past he would drift to the wings to receive the ball and try to work his way inside or make diagonal runs into the box, or drifting into the box when he didn’t have the ball. Look at the goal he scored against Marseille when he was on loan at Sochaux. He needs to go back to doing the things that worked for him. Wish him the best of luck, maybe this is the time to strengthen the mind, because that is what is really holding him back.
Paradox, your profile picture is threatening. Please change it.
Mayuka should come back, we need him at 2017 afcon. Faz should also consider bringing back Herve Renard, he is the only Zambian coach capable of wining 2017 afcon.
how is it “;threatening mumbi, explain?
Kkkk! I actually like paradox’s profile pic. His comments very much suit the picture lol!
@Mumbi, HR coming to Zambia would be a step back, he is probably eyeing for France now or some other European team with big bucks, a lot of those big teams knows he is tested and proven he can win with or with quality players as along as he has the support of an FA as seen with Faz and Ivory Coast..just my opinion though. The only way he comes back to Zambia is if he failed again somewhere else(as was with Angola) and then would need to rebuild his career. Heck we can’t even pay him that much and are always disorganized from travel arrangement to literally everything. I doubt he would want to come back to Zambia just yet. This man he moving upwards and Zambia isn’t the place for him right now..there is my 2 cents worth.
Renard is now African Specialist, he will just hang around Africa like nomad, next Ghana will want him. He will say he wants to take Aftican team to the world cup. He is not going to Europe because he prefers the lifestyle in Africa.
Probably he won’t go to Europe. Yes he loves African life especially if he could get another Mampi wherever he is then he will be alright.
Does that mean the ghainains have biwitchd him?
thats my line of thought
kwati
your mother
u have portrayed yoself as a mature guy. but yo true colours has Shown up.
hahahahahahah! pwaaaaaaaaaa pwaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, lol you have made day and I will apologize to my wife even though she was on the wrong side.
Mayuka you have no choice but to come back stronger and better than before. If you come back at the same level you will be clubless in a short time.
You are one of the more naturally gifted players but along the way something went wrong. It could be the intensity of the EPL, it could be the unfriendliness of England, we don’t know but you have to overcome it whatever it is otherwise you will be the youngest Zambian player in the Chinese league the next thing.
