Chipolopolo coach George Lwandamina has joined the U23 technical team and will be part of the coaching bench at the Senegal 2015 U23 Africa Cup of Nations.
Lwandamina has been roped in as technical advisor to the team with his assistant at senior level Fighton Simukonda remaining as head coach while national team second assistant Chintu Kampamba is already part of the U23 technical team.
The roping of Lwandamina implies that the full compliment of the national team coaches will be in Dakar with the addition of Tenant Chilumba who is assistant at U23 level but not part of the senior team.
With up to nine players in the U23 set-up having been part of the senior team since the appointment of Lwandamina in June, it is expected that the Olympic team will be set up to replicate the character and philosophy of the senior team.
Egypt based striker Patrick Ngoma and Zimbabwe based Aubrey Chirwa have both joined the team ahead of departure today at 13:00hrs leaving only Lubambo Musonda and Ronald Kampamba who are expected to join the team in Dakar.
According to itinerary obtained by the ZamFoot Crew, the Toaster Nsabata captained side will arrive in Johannesburg at 15:05hrs and depart South Africa for Senegal at 18:55hrs on an South African Airways Airbus 330. The team will arrive at Yoff Airport in Dakar at 01:25AM local time after a long 8hr 30minute flight.
The team is in group A and will play Senegal, South Africa and Tunisia .
Group B has Egypt, Algeria, Mali and Nigeria.
Zambia eliminated Ivory Coast in the final round of the qualifiers for the tournament.
The top three teams will represent Africa at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, and the fourth placed team facing an Asian side in a playoff.
Zambia play the first game against Tunisia on Saturday.
OK – This is welcome for teamness and team spirit. The technical team also understands one another and this is good for the team as well. The team will also benefit from Lwandamina’s technical skills and Chintu’s morale boosting skills as a praise singer. Hehehehe for lack of a better term.
hEHEHEHEHEH (NSS) NA SEKA SAANA. Yaba u have made my day @ Billy ! Chintu the choir master
That’s wonderful but let him humble himself before simukonda and chilumba and give unnecessary support
Lwandamina is realy a hands on upcoming coach for the national team. He is monitoring every player and opponents to equip himself for Chan, afcon and world qualifiers. I am sure we shall make the top four in this tournament
wat tecnical skilld does lwandamina have exept putting players in wrong positions? this is a mistake it will destroy the cohesion of the team that is if there was any
Why am I not surprised? You will never ever say anything positive, even when this is a good move. Lwandamina is not my favourite of coaches and of course not the best coach for Zambia but he is the best we have locally. On this move of including him on the U23 Technical bench, I support it wholeheartedly. For once be positive. You can’t always be negative about life.
Ba Stumpy you are always negative about Lwandamina what cohesion are you talking about which will be destroyed? These people work together on the senior level and they have the same philosophy this is the best thing that can be done for the team especially that nine of the players are in the senior team. Let’s support the team they have assembled a promising squad. Go Zambia Go!!!!
Go Zambia U23 and Conquer. What comes from me (at the top) is not an instruction, it is an order!!!!!!!!!
what we want is olympics, afcon & world cup chabe. So, you kalusha & your team, do whatever you can to take us there. Or else…endless criticism will follow. You have a total of 3, choose you score..kwapwa!
I like it when former players put their heads together at the helm of a country’s soccer structure. These two, Simukonda and Lwandamina ,are well aware of a menace that Zambia was in the past.
We don’t have enough medicine in the country at the moment, if you have BP problems don’t watch the tournament.
There is no time for negative vibes mwebwena Zambia We know you for arm-chair criticisms please let us rally behind our boys, I like Lwandamina at least he has been winning some games. Let him just humble himself before Simukonda as the whole weight lies on him ( Simukonda). One thing though I should be quick to point is, they should be quick to see the mistakes especially in the technical approach to each and every game not allowing the opponents to capitalise on the same weak area as Egypt did in the friendly! that’s what makes a good coach and technical team.
Ba Player nabo they should stop appearing like they have lost already, looking feeble in appearance, lacking confidence. We should involve some excellent motivational speakers and morale boasters. Fear is greater than lacking skill as one can not conquer some one they are afraid of! and again its risky to be very over confident, one must strike a balance to attain equilibrium whilst conserving the necessary energy and focus.
I think we can expect an up and down tough encouter from our opener on Saturday against Tunisia. The boys must be ready maintain good tempo and control all throughout the match.
Good luck young Chipolopolo, may your time be now.
Good Move Lwandamina
Whats the kick off time 4 the match btwin Zambia and Tunisia?

Junior Chipolopolo
We have not been able physically travel with you but always know that our spirits will always be there railing behind team chipolopolo, to our brothers and sisters who are always ready state negatives about the coaches, we need to wait for our chances. We as people of konkola township in chilabombwe are happy to see our young man “Aubrey Chirwa” rise from our back ward garden ” butemwe” to now being considered for a nations tonnament of this degree.
Go chipolopolo Goal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
north Africans have a good record against us. lets hope our players wont be mentally defeated.
THAT IS A VERY BIG MISTAKE WE HV MADE WHY BRINGING IN A PATHETIC COACH? THIS MAN WIL DISTEB THE TEAM, WE WOULD HV LEAVE FIGHTON TO FINISH DE JOB. JUST BEATING SUDAN THEN U THINK THAT LWANDAMINA IS A GUD COACH NO! SUDAN IS A WEAK TEAM EVEN YESTERDAY SUDAN LOST TO MALAWI BY 2-1 IN 2015 CECAFA.
I AGREE WITH STUMPY.
Lwandamina is a rising star. He has made us qualify for chan, won the league and he is born and bred in zambia. He is our ‘keshi’. He is following the footsteps of ‘Zoom’. He can be pathetic but he is patriotic .
NICE MOVE FOR CHICKEN GEORGE TO HELP EACH OTHER IN THE NAME OF ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION GO ZAMBIA GO
The U23 team arrived in Senegal about an hour ago. Fighton Simukonda should have been left alone to choose his own team and tactics. With the presence of Lwandamina, he is not going to be free in his selection. Have we forgotten what happenned when our U20 lost 3-0 away and if am not mistaken Herve Renard had been included in the technical bench and the late Zanaco coach who was the head coach for the team blamed him for the defeat because of what he called interference. It would have been nice to see Simukonda’s own style.
@ Papa…I get your point, let’s hope the two will work together in an amicable manner instead of bossing each other.
Go zambia Go
BAD decision by the corrupt FAZ to bring in Chicken George, I am afraid these small boys will be eaten alive in Senegal!
People Landmine is going there as a technical advisor. He is not responsible for team selection. Why do people like insinuating?
The inclusion of chicken should come to us as surprise tho he is clueless its which has been for a long period of time…
Zedians for once let’s discuss football = how do u call chicken clueless when he is just from winning the local league. Dismantling Kenya and Sudan in front of their fans. On the other side, chicken should not have joint team in Senegal, coz how can your boss at senior level be the advisor to his junior at junior level? In any case we shall be in rio this time around.
