Newly promoted Lusaka Tigers on Saturday moved into second position with a second successive win at their home ground when they beat Lusaka Dynamos in a Lusaka derby.
The first half proved to be a closely contested affair as the two teams cancelled each other out.
Tigers would however take the lead through a well taken header minutes before half time when an inch perfect cross from the right wing found the head of Simutowe Musatwe Jr who headed Tigers into the lead going into half time.
As play resumed in the second half Lusaka dynamos showed a lot of intent and kept attacking the Tigers goal.
Sydney Kalume had a stellar performance in the middle of the park and was instrumental in his team’s dictation of play in the second half of the game as Lusaka Dynamos took more control of proceedings.
It was however in the final third where they came undone with Conlyde “Golden boy”Luchanga guilty of missing a clear cut header at the far post late on in the second half when he should have buried it into the net.
Tigers defense stood firm however as they held on for the win, while the fans urged the goal keeper to stay down whenever he had the ball.
The fans even went as far as telling the ball boys to leave the pitch side so as to buy some time for their team.
Tigers themselves had a chance late on to kill off the game but the attacker blazed the ball wide of the keepers left post.
One nil was how it ended much to the excitement of the Matero faithfuls who had come out in their numbers to cheer on their team, next up for them is an away match at home against Green Buffaloes who drew against Kabwe Warriors.
Tiger have already turned the historical independence Stadium into a fortress after they beat Nchanga Ranger with a similar result in their opening fixture of the season.
Despite losing 2 – 0 to Zanaco, the Tigers will feel they could have held their own against last season’s runners up who only managed to breach their defence late in the second half.
For a team that just earned promotion and does not boast of a big company sponsor, Tigers look good in second position even though it may be temporally as Zanaco play tomorrow.

STOPILA SUNZU on target for Lille Losc after rising very high with a powerfull header on 55′ to make it 0-2 against FC NANTES.
The boy had a solid game, held play well, vision and focus was spot on the whole 90 minutes…his team mates totally enjoyed him today, especially after that goal!
Good news in deed keep on working hard boy… On national he is being over used coz he is surrounded by two old horses from old people’s home .. Chama and mufune. This idiot coach should discard these old players .. Bring back katebe and munthali
surely I don’t get it why coach doesn’t think munthali is man to work with sunzu and even replace him. Proven record of munthali at cecafa tournaments in East Africa and last chan
