Armenia based Lubambo Musonda and Belgium bound Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba are the only foreign based players who have been called to beef up the Zambia U23 national team that will participate at the CAF U23 Championship in Senegal.
Team manager Hastings Ndovi confirmed this to the Daily Mail.
Lubambo played both at home and away for Zambia in the World Cup qualifier against Sudan and contributed a goal in the 2 – 0 win in Ndola.
Israel based duo of Emmanuel Mbola and Evans Kangwa are both eligible for selection having been born after 1 January 1993. Kangwa and Kampamba combined at Nkana and at the the 2011 COSAFA U20 tournament to devastating effect with Kangwa emerging top scorer at the tournament. Kangwa played against Sudan in the World Cup qualifiers.
Egypt based striker Patrick Ngoma is also eligible.
Zambia play Tunisia, South Africa and hosts Senegal in Group A while Group B has Algeria, Egypt, Mali and Nigeria.
The top three teams will qualify for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games while the fourth finishers will face an Asian side in a play-off.

Team selection is key on this. I hope the coach has really done his home work on the selection. To me the critical position is the play-maker’s position, coz this is where the goals will be created from; goals win you matches.

Mbola should try and go back to Armenia… he was clinical while there. ever since he left, he lost his touch. On the other Hand, Lubambo is an improved player. there is something about that environment which adds value to our players

The same foolishness that made us miss out on the last Olympics has reared its head again. While others will be lining up their best available, we take a casual approach and pray or miracles. At this rate Am not seeing Zambia qualify.Its only in Zambia where a player plays in the ultimate senior national team and deemed not good enough to play in an inferior junior team bracket.There is something seriously wrong with our reasoning. In a normal set up any player who is considered and plays for the senior team should walk straight into the junior team. Fighton Simukonda and your technical team think again and include ,Ngoma,Mbola,Kangwa and Mukuka Mulenga.These players were better than the ones YOU have picked hence they were spotted to play in foreign leagues. I rest my case.
Kalusha should explain why Patrick ngoma is not in the team because that boy is better than patson daka given what I saw at the caf under 20. Kalusha is just too corrupt he is fighting so hard to sell certain players at the expense of performing players abroad.
We know Kalusha is picking all the players from under 17 to national team the man is too selfish it’s too much.

Sometimes i wonder why our under 23 teams underperform.is it becouse they dont play as a team for a long time? How long have they played as a team? When will they know each other tactically? After Rio or Senegal most of them will be 24 years . Lets be very strategic at the junior levels .

The other side of it is creating a large pool of young players who are of good quality and taking Zambia to the glory days.This has got nothing to do with making kaNgwe or if it so happens never mind it because it is not the main reason things are happening that way. Roll back the years to the days of mighty KK11…….what was the average age for the bullets? I guess it suggested that Zambia had a fairly young squad up until the 1993 dispicably horrible incident. @Sibs….but consider the fact that players compete for roles they play in a team. One of the best strikers a country has can be committed from the world cup bound team list while a defender of very low quality makes the list simply because he is the best a country has.This is just one factor…. there are many others.
No brother, this is a fake excuse. The fact remains that Ngoma is better than Data and Ngoma should have been in this squad. Daka is good but at U-17 level. The boy is being pushed too hard. You can’t swallow more than you can chew.

Olympics should be for every young player who has shown he can play at the highest level not for experimenting . Zamfoot are there any friendlies for under 23.
What of Koko Master one Julius Situmbeko and enterprising Kelvin Mubanga? These two I believe can add great depth to the midfield. Evans is experienced but sometimes I feel he is wasteful, not very clinical. If Mbola came, who would you start between him and Mkandawire? Patrick Ngoma is better than Patson Daka and Friday Samu.
