Lawrence Mulenga to start ahead of Kalumba and  Nsabata

The Chipolopolo Boys will this evening take on Morocco in their third 2026 World Cup qualifier set for Stade Adrar in Agadir.

Coach Avram Grant will be looking to pick a positive result away in North Africa to keep the Copper Bullets World Cup dreams within reach.

The Israeli gaffer will look to field his strongest side from the available players in his squad.

Power Dynamos goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga is expected to start between the sticks ahead of Toaster Nsabata and Charles Kalumba.

Prior to the 2023 AFCON, Mulenga started in goal in the friendly against Cameroon and was also in goal in the 2-1 loss to Niger.

The Blue Bullets product seems to have settled as the first choice for the 2012 AFCON winners.

He was in goal for the Chipolopolo Boys unfruitful AFCON outing in January putting in full shifts in all three group games.

The second option is ZESCO United’s Toaster Nsabata who when Grant started his reign as Chipolopolo boss over a year ago  was given the nod ahead of Forest Rangers goalkeeper Allan Chibwe and Lawrence.

However 33 minutes into that match, Nsabata made a blunder that saw the Likuena take the lead after he failed to deal with a Tsoarelo Bereng long range free kick.

With Nsabata almost in tears, Patson Daka and Emmanuel Banda went to comfort their former Nchanga Rangers teammate.

Nsabata has also had some very decent shifts for Chipolopolo in a number of games and was at some point the clear choice between the sticks.

And of the three Nsabata is the most experienced having made his debut over ten years ago under Patrice Beuamelle.

Nsabata has played 22 games for Chipolopolo keeping five clean sheets.

The other goalkeeper is 27 year old Charles Kalumba who was spotted and earmarked by then Chipolopolo coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic as a possible first choice goalkeeper at the Cameroon 2020 CHAN tournament.

He made some costly mistakes but worked his way back to the national team set up, winning his third cap against Iraq.

Kalumba impressed as he saved Zambia from a tennis scoreline in Baghdad.

He was also a pivotal part of the Red Arrows squad that won a domestic double.

Zambia are currently second in group E after beating Congo Brazzaville 4-2 on Match Day one before losing 2-1 to Niger on Match Day 2.

The match will  kick off at 21:00 hours (Zambian Time) at the Stade Adrar in Agadir.
