Lameck Banda assists in Lecce win

Zambian forward Lameck Banda set up the first goal as his Italian Serie A side Lecce edged Frosinone 2-1.

Banda setup Roberto Piccoli for the opener as Lecce returned to winning ways ending an eleven match winless run.

Roberto Piccoli and Ylber Ramadani both beat Stefano Turati at his near post, so Kaio Jorge’s first Serie A goal was not enough to prevent Lecce beating Frosinone for their first win since September.

Stefano Turati made a double howler for the opening goal, as first his pass out from the back was intercepted by the Zambian international, then he failed to protect his near post allowing Roberto Piccoli to net the opener just eleven minutes into the match.

Banda’s sensational right-foot curler from the edge of the area smacked against the crossbar, though Piccoli was offside in the build-up anyway.

Frosinone received a penalty using VAR when Monterisi was caught on the ankle by Alexis Blin in the 33rd minute.

Kaio Jorge stepped up and buried it into the near bottom corner just past Falcone’s fingertips for his first Serie A goal.

Lecce were the stronger side coming close on several occasions with Lameck Banda in the thick of things hitting the crossbar again and putting a few over the bar.

Gabriel Strefezza and Piccoli also had chances but failed to convert.

Lecce finally sealed the win a minute to time as a long-range effort from Ylber Ramadani took a slight deflection off Monterisi to beat Turati at his near post.

The win sees Lecce move to 20 points and 12th place leapfrogging Frosinone.
