Zambia Women’s national team forward Rachel Kundananji has opened her goal account for Spanish Primera Division Femenina side Madrid CFF.
Kundananji scored a brace as Madrid CFF came from a goal down to beat FC Levante Las Planas 3-1 in a Liga F week 3 encounter.
Kundananji who joined the capital city side from Eibar last month came off the bench to replace Gabi Nunez at the start of the second half.
The visitors took the lead at the Estadio Fernando Torres just 13 minutes into the first stanza, Irina Uribe with the goal.
Las Planas held on to their lead in the first half and went to the break with the lead. Madrid however made changes at the start of the second half.
The Zambian international was one of those and leveled matters just 14 minutes later as she got on the end of a Laura Dominguez pass to curl in a beauty of a strike leaving Doris Basic in the Las Planas goal with no chance.
Kundananji was again at it in the 64th minute scoring off a Aida Esteve Quintero assist. A familiar celebration followed, ‘Tulima Lebanese’ with country mate Grace Chanda , she also threw in the Klings Kangwa special, forehead hold and point.
Brazilian defender Monica sealed the win with a goal from 12 yards out after Lucia Pardo was brought down in the box in the 70th minute.
Pardo could not shake off the challenge, and was then withdrawn in the 74th minute for Grace Chanda to make her debut for Madrid CFF.
The 2022 CAF Women’s player of the year nominee almost found the back of the net in the 86th minute after Kundananji stole the ball from the goalkeeper, but Chanda’s effort was too close to the Las Planas goalminder.
The win takes Madrid CFF to the summit of the Spanish Primera Division Femenina with six points from two games.
