Copper Queens Midfielder Evarine Susan Katongo has been nominated for the ZPL Awards in the fans player of the season category.
According to a post by the Zambian Premier League revealing the contenders, Katongo will battle it out with ZESCO Ndola Girls striker Penelope Mulubwa and Red Arrows’ winger Mary Mambwe.
Katongo who is regarded by many as the best player in the league was instrumental in helping Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club finish second in the league.
Katongo was also part of Coach Nora Elizabeth Häuptle’s squad for the 2024 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament where Zambia suffered a quarter final exit at the hands of Nigeria.
Mulubwa on the other hand was the top goalscorer in the league with 35 goals and was key for ZESCO Ndola Girls as they won the league.
Mary Mambwe was the Airwomen’s top goalscorer as they finished fourth in the 2024/2025 Eden University Women’s Super League season.
