Janza: Kangwa still in my plans

Honour Janza says Israel-based Zambian striker, Evans Kangwa is still in his plans despite overlooking him in the two upcoming 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Kangwa at the weekend came off the bench to score a brace in Hapoel Ra’anana’s 2-1 win away to Moadon Sport Ashalod.

The on-loan striker from Nkana together with Jacob Mulenga, who scored in Adana Demirspor’s 2-1 Turkish 1.lig away loss to Elazigspor, have been left out of the 26-member squad that regroups on Sunday.

But Janza said Kangwa was still part of his plans adding that he was monitoring his performance at the his club and would be called for future assignments.

“Evans is a good player and he is in our plans. It is just that we have to call a certain number of players at a time to the national team because of the high competition for positions,” Janza said in an interview.

Janza retaliated on the need for both foreign and locally based players that have not been summoned to camp not to lose hope but work hard to ensure they get a call up for the other matches.

“I am positive that we are qualifying to the AFCON and players like Evans may have a chance to play at the finals based on their performance they are showing at his club,” he said.

Kangwa, who is on one year loan from Nkana, was part of 2012 Chipolopolo winning squad but did not play a game. His last appearance in the Zambian jersey was in March when he scored a brace in 2-1 win over Uganda.

Zambia plays Mozambique away in a must win clash on November 15 before hosting Cape Verde four days at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

  1. kangwa scored 2 goals against uganda with limited time. he’s scoring goals in europe at the moment. Here janza you have messed up. you should have called kangwa to the team.

  2. @john.. since when did Israel became Europe? Anyway, yes Kangwa is a good striker but I dont know why coaches sideline him in most cases. Zamfoot, why show the face of an Arab and obscure Kangwa yet the topic is about Kangwa?

    • Joe israel is europe. you can check on soccer way how many europeans from croatia, england, germany, portugal, belgium and so many other europeans play in israel. Further Maccabi Haifa has featured in the champions league many times. Israel is europe

  3. Since we have a national mourning, when do our players go into camp? Can’t they go and train in South Africa to avoid raising eyebrows.
The game is on 15th which is 10 days from now and our players are still not in camp. This worrisome.

  4. Jaza we know you will not lose your job what ever the results of the remaining games, still for once be real and do select the right players .Ba Noal Chivuta also just forget about the national team and earn your pension there in Thailand.

  5. Iwe janza, wat r u thinkin abt Shadrick Musonda of nkana. De boy z bck frm injury nd his creativity leads to goals. No doubt z numba one dribbler

  6. @judge joe bidden. Israeli teams play in the Champions League and Europa Cup. Though they don’t go far. Israel is also playing in the European Cup qualifying games. Israel may not be really in Europe but they considered Europeans. They like Turkey. The fall in between Europe and the Middle East.

On Kangwa good to hear the Coach will still consider him in future. Even Alex Ngonga needs to be given opportunities like others have had in the past.

    • I looked at it geographically, as Israel is right in the middle east not Europe, what you are saying is like Zambia participating in CECAFA even if we are not really in East Africa! (Soccer Speaking yes we were part of it, but geographically, nope! so we inclined more to where we are physically – South), but i get your point.

  7. We need snipers here and not players who fail to score after ten clear chances. Winning is about scoring goals and the likes of Kangwa and Sate-sate can simply do that when given a chance.

  8. This gumugumu will not take Zambia anywhere mark my words. Much as I want to be positive about Zambia, this coach is clueless just like corrupt Kalu.

  9. @Sibs… If Jordan and Syria are in Europe then Israel is, because Israel is right in the middle of Egypt on the left and Jordan/Syria on the right, so how Israel jumped these Jordan/Syria to be part of Europe i have no idea. Bottom line our boy Evan Kangwa is in the Middle East. Zambia participating in CECAFA doesnt make us East Africans, or are we?

  10. Kalu is a useless administrator. He is not looking for any other coach other than bringing back HR or Patrice. That’s the best we can do. Kalu cannot bring in a coach that can work independently, only those that he can manipulate and will cut him a check. It’s mafia sh!t going on at Faz.

  11. It is strange at times this regional football thing.I believe even Morocco at one point applied to UEFA but were rejected.Loook at Australia they participate in Asia.

  12. When Zambia were preparing for the Uganda match i watched one of their training sessions and during that session i saw how Evans kangwa posed a lot problems to the Stopila Sunzu marshaled defense.
In fact Stopila was visibly struggling to deal with Evans Kangwa’s pace .At that time I was reluctant to draw a lot of conclusions about the abilities of the player from that sparring match.

Come match day Evans Kangwa came off the bench and scored a brace.

Those who watched the match saw how Uganda’s defense stalwart Andrew Mwesigwa who in the first half had thwarted almost everything Emmanuel Mayuka and company had thrown at him suddenly started chasing shadows whenever Evans Kangwa was in possession of the ball.
I may not be a Coach but i am convinced that Kangwa Evans is our most dangerous striker by current form.

  13. Well done Janza for recalling Evans Kangwa, this is our team so we decide who plays. Now start with Mayuka and Evans Kangwa upfront, Sate Sate can come in at a later stage on bring Evans Kangwa in the second half since he is good when he comes from the bench.

  14. JANZA knows that going to AFCON is our birthright as Zambians what is an achievement is doing well at AFCON when we go there and to be frank JANZA DOESNT LOOK LIKE THE TYPE THAT CAN PERFORM AT AFCON
