Zanaco coach Numba Mumamba has issued a strong warning to MTN Super League contenders after his side’s 1-0 victory away to Konkola Blades on Saturday.
Brian Kabika scored the only goal of the match in the 81st minute, securing all three points for the Bankers.
Speaking after the game, Numba expressed confidence in his team’s consistency, saying it will be tough for other clubs to dethrone Zanaco from the top of the log.
“It won’t be an easy thing to remove us from the top of the log because Zanaco isn’t the same team as last season.
“You’ve seen that we are now able to pick up results because of the quality players we’ve brought in,” said Numba.
Zanaco remain unbeaten after eight games, with five wins and three draws, and currently sit top of the MTN Super League table with 18 points.
CNumba also shared the team’s short-term ambition, emphasizing their desire to return to the prestigious ABSA Cup.
“Our aim is to qualify for the ABSA Cup because it has been a while since we last participated. Our primary objective is to work hard in the first round and ensure we are among the teams that will feature in the competition,” he added.
With his vast experience in the MTN Super League, Numba has transformed Zanaco from last season’s relegation battles into a side competing strongly at the top.
At the moment, Red Arrows has (one game in hand) and Power Dynamos (three games in hand) are the only teams that can potentially dislodge Zanaco FC from the summit of the table.
