Zambia national team defence pillar Stopilla Sunzu was on Friday evening in action as he helped his club to a 2 – 1 home win over Ajacio though the towering defender limped off after the hour mark.
The win kept Sochaux’s hopes for promotion on course as they moved into 5th position 3 points behind ligue 2 leaders Dijon thanks to a brace from Karl Toko-Ekambi.
However, there are injury concerns for Sunzu after he was substituted in the 61st minute after he indicated to the bench that he had a pain in his foot.
The towering defender is however expected to join the national team Sunday ahead of the trip to Mozambique on Wednesday.

Our defensive relie on him, come on go chipolopolo
Gud for n.o.t.h.I.n.g defender who is wasting his talent in lower France division!! Lol
ya good for nothing wen he made yo superstar gyan look like an amature striker each time Zambia played yo dark stars team
they have never held that gold afcon trophy they are jealous. they just go to world cup to fight over allowances and embarrass Africa.
dont be funny
Glad that u acknowledge the fact that he is talented, and he deserves to be in a better league. I like your honesty man.
Get well soon sunzu
hopefully it’s not a serious injury.
sochaux will qualify from ligue 2 back into ligue 1. Renard would have failed to do this. Sochaux did the right thing by sacking him
Renard was not sacked by Sochaux, he just left the club to search for greener pastures just like he left Zambia, the same way PB did.
Yeah hope its not a serious injury. @ Paradox, I like the way Sunzu neutralised Gyan and made him start running like a headless chicken for the past 3 meetings with trophyless ghana.
young mukuka mulenga messed up his career a bit by joining sundowns he should have gone to israel like kangwa. Next season kangwa will be playing in a big league i can tell you european clubs have started monitoring with the goals he is scoring. if he continues he is gone. Lubambo Musonda is another one who is going to a big club next season. His form at ulisses is attracting attention.
@john, I can assure you that nobody knows who Kangwa or Lubambo is outside Zambia. You always praise players that amount to nothing. Infact, your opinion is worth-less. You were praising Fwayo, but he has been clubless for over a year. You praised Mayuka, but he has scored less than 5 goals for club and country in 2 years. You were rubbishing Pelle at the beginning of the season, but he has proven to be one of the most potent strikers in the epl. You’re too temperamental. Instead of talking with sense, you talk like someone who just has his tooth pulled out by a fake dentist or dentist assistant.
To the veterans Amos Mumba, Dinamo, Patrick Mwanza, Rok, Justice Kafusha etc I seek information on The All Stars Versus The Rest matches we used to have back in the days. Through our (Spaks, Punch and I) Innovation Sports Consultancy we will next month revive it. Contact me on 0965781007
Uncle Bobs. This is good news mwe.
Good for Sunzu, but the colleague Sinkala has become a bench warmer in the Swiss league.
Smart move by Sunzu to preserve him self for national duty
Sunzu knew that he has an important match back home that’s y he coudn’t continue by avoiding the injury to worsen.
Ghana has appointed former Chelsea Coach Avram Grant as the new manager of the dreaded black stars
so what avram grant is not special what trophy has he won. Portsmouth got relegated with this guy if my memory serves me well. You are just wasting tax payers money
So what?
Avram usually stands on the touch line n watches his team getting beaten with a blank expression on his face…..clueless if u were to ask me. I see them starting to make noise in the near future, anyways let’s wait cos AFCON is around the unknown corner.
mumbi. am sure the next time Zambia plays Ghana. gyan will ask the coach to put him on the bench rather than play Zambia
Let’s hope Sunzu’s injury is not serious. All the best.
did I read right “dreaded black stars”?
—————-> @ PARADOX,-Errm! I think U did. haaaa.. I believe GRANT is not a chargable coach, thatis why Avram was giving the chance to beat The CHIPOS next year in afcon..
Anyway, Greetings to all ZAMBIANS..
Welcome Back Kwame, by the posts above u can see that the brothers are already warming up for a the last phase of the qualifiers .My only wish is to see who’s who making it to this tournament that looks like it’s gona be hosted by the moon.
John, u’ve started again, he will be playing in a big league next season. U said the same thing about Sunzu and Sinkala, where are they? Sinkala is a bench warmer in Switzerland and your so called pillar is ligue 2. Funny enough.
i agree with kwabena piso
Well come back Kwame. @ Paradox, dreaded from my dictionery means something un desirabale or un convincing. So Avram Grant does not desire to coach ghana even if they promise to pay him a salary equaling there national budget per month, he Wont be convinced.
Infact I’ve searched on their site, and they are just speculating.
@mumbi.desperation at its severity. cant wait for Uganda to teach them a lesson
Now that we are in week 11 my final assessment is that mayuka should leave southampton. Its amazing how zambian players are termed failures in leagues like the EPL when they are give only 10 to 15 minutes to play. Mayuka is no failure. Even when he went to france he did well he was just unfortunate to find a club in a difficult situation. Its amazing how Europeans like Long will be given plenty of opportunities before being termed a failure. Anyhow Mayuka has been patient enough it is clear koeman does not value him. Koeman has no plan B OR C. His only plan is plan A where he plays the players he knows and bought. Koeman doesnt know Mayuka and as such wont play him. Its better Mayuka leaves now in January he has done his best.
Mayuka is a young player and should not sit on the bench time to move on.
You guys have started again? Your best players, Sunzu and Sinkala are not good for even our division 2 league. Besides, Grant took Chelsea to final of the champions league, FA cup and 2nd in the premier league. What again can you ask for? Which Zambian player has played in the champions league before? By the way does Zambia have the money to hire world class coach like Grant? Your guess is as good as mine
so u have come on this site to insult us and tell us we dont have money? youre very arrogant and disrespectful soul thats why youre been denied a trophy.
Let Mayuka leave southampton it is clear they are just using the boy till their favored Jay rodriguez comes. Mayuka made a terrible mistake to join this club. He has not played a single 90 minute EPL game in 2 years since he joined. He should have signed for QPR and not southampton. Clearly they confused him when he signed they never intended to use him.
Sorry*my* not mine
To those who don’t understand dreaded, it means fearful
I agree with john. Mayuka should leave southampton, he should try the dutch league
Mayuka can do well in the Dutch, Portuguese, Turkish or Danish leagues. He was loaned to the french side, u all know what happened there! Even with a coach who knew him very well he failed to make the grade. Him just like Jacob Mulenga aint gud enough for EPL. Mayuka can do well but he is not mentally strong.
Mayuka is not a failure he cant be abused like that and sit on the bench while Long is given 100 chances before he scores. They are players from weak african countries that have never won the africa cup like Mayuka yet they are always playing. Weak countries like benin and kenya. No mayuka is being abused hes no failure. Hes a former african champion and golden boot winner like great strikers like eto why should he sit on the bench. Let him move on his time has been wasted enough.
@coach Avram Grant was riding on Mourinho ‘s foundaion.Mark my words, Avram will take Ghana nowhere, if he failed in europe I don’t see him succeed in africa.
Long was given more than 3 months before he scored Mayuka was never given such a chance hence no one has the right to insult him and call him a failure or flop. He has been marginalized in his 2 years at southampton let him move on.
Renard advised Mayuka to join the French league but he opted for the EPL which does not value Zambian players look at what happened with Mbesuma.
I want a debate on this topic ” Zambia is not a footballing nation” because to me and on records, the best thing to have happened t o Zambia football is Kalusha Bwalya and afcon 2012. This is not enough to be a footballing nation.
you are a lunatic. you think it is easy to win a cup with more than 50 independent states competing.
funny big headed people always make me laugh on this site
can u give us more profe of what makes ur country a football nation kekekekekeke
wat r u saying. u guys won afcon in black and white. y shod we dread u becoz of 2010 worldcup exploits?. two years later it was Zambia that brot u back to earth.
How about you give us proof and also provide criteria for what defines a footballing nation. You really should find a shovel and walk to a dark corner somewhere, then dig a deep hole and throw a chair in there then yourself…In bemba it is called “ikaleni fye uko imwe.” Translation just go sit down somewhere.
it was easy to win trophies that time, football has changed and you guys can’t cope up with modern rules of football I.e age cheating, goal line technology…..
just. watching from afar and laugh my best out of myself at some of the comment you post .some full of Vernon .
The type of football in 1982 must be totaly different from the current one as rules keeps on changing including formats.
I doubt if there where off-side or handball rules in acient football. All those afcon tornaments held b4 1984 must be just irrelevant by now. Thats y only better teams have won a well morden organised 16 nations afcon tornament.
mumbi. it’s like sum1 boasting abt having windows 95 in their computers as a operating system
People must come out and tell us what is the big hype about zambian football. @john i told you mayuka is not an epl material, the english league is a very competitive league especial if wou a striker because most teams have 4 or 5 competing for a starting lineup. Do you honestly think an average striker like mayuka can compete with shane long, mane, rodriguez and pelle?
one luck afcon n u talk to much
Zambia is not a football nation one afcon and u call urself a football nation lmao
Kekekekekeke-yaba Mumbi, and Paradox on a Ghanaian cruise can’t cracking ribs-won cup in black and white times (1982 although colour TV at least in Zambia came in 1980 or thereafter) and that all Cups before 84 should be rendered irrelevant or obsolete-kekekekekeke
John Zambian players just need to develop the right attitude like what players from lesser nations soccerwise Ssegnon (Benin), Wanyama (Kenya), Adebayor (Togo) etc have done. We need to find a route cause of our players (Mbesuma, Mayuka etc) flopping. Southampton are 2nd on the league for crying out loud showing that Koeman is on the right track with team selection. The way Mayuka may feel hard done by at Saints is the same way Sate and Evans were feeling for Zambia when Jacob and Mayuka kept being features fluffing chance after chance although not so much for Jacob who inked some goals under Renard. Even the goals the two scored against Cape Verde and Niger where just good assists from Kalaba and Given and nothing from their effort or brain
@ mike phiri, “It was easy to win trophies at that time” really? So how many did zambia win at that time?
@ mike phiri, “football has change and you guys can’t cope with the new rules” wow! Since then… ghana has been to the world’s biggest sports event THE WORLD CUP three times. Have you EVER been to the world cup?
Talking about today? AFCON qualifiers…ghana is on top of it’s group ok. Can you say the same? Ghana is even doing it in the middle of chaos. The times our fans have turn against the team, without three major players who are all GAME CHANGERS at any given time. Show some respect.
LeBron sir. u expect us to show respect wen yo fellow ghanains dont but belittle us.
u r a creche/dummy in IT circles, most modern operating systems were built based on earlier ones, if not for Ghana nd those countries participting at that time had not made it attractive enough, will we be talking abt it today for u to even luckily and flukely win one? think deep b4 blabbing
you nitwit. who would dare use windows 95 on a latest personal computer. y boast of yo ancient afcon glories wen the Africa cup has transformed from a four tourney to a modern 16 team tourney
wat has made the afcon exciting today is the increase of teams taking part and not the teams that took part wen the aafcon started
dis where uor full blown dumminess knows no bound, this creche thinking guy lacks that knack to read nd understand, lemme break it down to uor creche level, modern operating systems were built on earlier ones,95-98-2000-me etc, those guys did not just stand up to write xp and vista based on nothing,so also r server operating systems, das y there r version upgrades on earlier/legacy ones, dummy!!!
modern day crap Afcon was built on earlier ones when it wasnt attractive,at least for the less civilised countries, das y few countries were participating in it,now uve become civilised to yarn rubbish cos of one fluke crap cup
hahahahahah dumiies
i guies zambia was not part of africa at that time right.so was zambia in asia during the 80s right.a country full of dumies and crech thinkers
Hahahaha! It’s funny reading some comment from my Zambian friends. Brazil has won world cup 5 times and 3 were won b4 1980
May I remind you that today they are the most successful country in the history of WCs. By the way, you guys are struggling yo qualify for the same Afcon you cherish so much in your so call modern time and I wonder if you can qualify at all. The last time I checked, Zambia did not qualify from his during the last afcon and was booted out from the WC by Ghana who has won afcon trophy for keep. The the trophy is at the fa cabinet, Zambia could only keep the cup for just one year. May I also remind you Zambians that we don’t give a fuck about afcon, we have won it enough, all we care now is the WC trophy, this useless tournament is only cherish by minnows like you
so the excitement of current 16 team afcon is based upon Ghana four ancient triumph of four teams tourney. ohh let me put it this way. two teams in group A & two teams in group B
dumies than it means 4 of egyptians trophyies are not afcon trophies big headed people with shallow thinking.wer was zambia during does days fool.
paradox wer was zambia at that time
ya call it modern crap tourney. its becoz u r outdated and u have nothing to show for it. its like am an IT specialist using windows 95 to run latest software in my pc.
Egypt won it in ancient days and continued to win in modern days. that is real boasting.
dummy so in all how much as egypt won
Egypt has won it 3 times, 2006, 2008 in Ghana your home soil, wow how painful even on home ground u;re trophless and 2010 Angola. In Zambia we don’t count AFCON in the 80’s boy. The only true Champions from the West are the Nigerians, the rest are flukes, dont even try to bring in Cameroon, thats central Africa.
@morgy our frend only understand sign language.
now i get it almost half of zambian porpulation are made up of illitrete just just look at ur cooment u guys sound stupid and confused just look at one big fool on what he just posted In Zambia we don’t count AFCON in the 80’s boy.u see how u guys sound stupid and helpless.
paradox between th two of us u sound very stupid and confused and making a fool out of ur self and ur country .go visit caf websit and tell me how many trophies as egypt won.
This Ghana argument has become stale. There is no need for this. The Ghana ins are always wanting to rain on Zambia’s parade or any positive thing said. It’s not necessary, why argue with people who clearly are bent on insulting us. They come here as soon as someone says something good about Zambia to talk about fluke AFCON when we beat all 4 of the favorite teams to win in 2012 including them. It’s really a waste of time and effort. They can’t take away the fact that we have won it before just like we can’t take away their past glory either. Let’s move on.
this what shows that u guys are not there yet .u guys are minnows in football u guys are non entities in the world of football that a fact.if u guys don agree with wat am saying then am waiting bring u fact.
realistic it ur people who stated it first.thy must know better
Ladies and gentlemen, let’s respect each other and exclude INSULTS out of arguments or any perspective, please. Thanks
Stop, stop or else they won’t be AFCON tournament nxt year.
Ghana must go!
CIV also got one AFCON trophy, only difference with you is the fact that they triumphed over 15 other participants. 1992 if my memory serves me well.
