MTN Super League side Konkola Blades have confirmed the acquisition of four new players led by former Nkana skipper Idriss Ilunga Mbombo.
The other three are midfielder Jacob Ngulube, winger Bhinotinio Musonda from Jumulo and midfielder Emmanuel Kunda from relegated FC Leopards.
Mbombo has penned a one year and six months deal while the other three have signed two year deals with Sharp Razor.
“Following the recent announcement of squad restructuring, Konkola Blades Football Club (KBFC) is delighted to officially announce the acquisition of four new players to strengthen the Sharp Razor squad ahead of the upcoming 2026/2027 MTN Super League campaign. As part of management’s commitment to building a highly competitive team, the club has secured a robust mix of midfield dynamics, and proven goal-scoring pedigree.
The new additions to the senior squad include; Idris Ilunga Mbombo, a highly-rated Congolese forward joins the club on a 1-year, 6-months contract. Formerly of Nkana FC, Zesco United, and Kabwe Warriors, Mbombo brings invaluable experience, and a proven track record of finding the back of the net in the top flight, Jacob Ngulube, the tireless and creative midfielder also joins the ‘Sharp Razor’ from Nkana FC on a 2-year deal. His tactical intelligence and work rate will provide a substantial boost to our engine room,” reads part of the statement from the Chilibombwe based outfit.
“Others include, Bhinotinio Musonda, a winger, joins the club on a 2-year contract from Jumulo. Bhinotinio adds pace, and creativity to KBFCs’ attacking options on the flanks, and Emmanuel Kunda, the versatile midfielder, comes to Konkola Stadium from Prison Leopards on a 2-year contract. Emmanuel adds vital tactical depth and league experience to our central midfield layout.”
Meanwhile Konkola Blades Chief Executive Officer, Kebby Shampongo has expressed confidence in the new signings saying they are ready to fight for the badge.
“Following the departure of several players at the end of last season, our clear objective was to inject fresh energy and top-flight experience into the squad,” he said.
“We have secured players who understand the demand of the MTN Super League and are ready to fight for the badge. We warmly welcome them to Chililabombwe.”
Blades recently announced the departure of sixteen players including Justin Mwanza, Prosper Chiluya and Kenani Phiri.
