Mufulira Wanderers confirm Henry Omollo Odhiambo acquisition

MTN Super League side Mufulira Wanderers has confirmed the acquisition of Kenyan forward Henry Omollo Odhiambo from Kakamega Homeboyz as earlier reported by the ZamFoot Crew

Wanderers took to social media to confirm the development saying Omollo Odhiambo has penned a long term contract.

The ZamFoot Crew understands that he  has signed a two and half year deal at Shinde.

“Mufulira Wanderers Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Kenyan forward Henry Omollo Odhiambo on a long-term contract from Kakamega Homeboyz FC. The 20-year-old attacker, who stands at 6’0″ and weighs 70 kg, joins Abena Milambo as a dynamic and versatile forward.

Known for his pace and ability to play across the front line, Omollo arrives with an impressive goalscoring pedigree and valuable experience from both the Kenyan Premier League and National Super League,” reads part of a statement from Mufulira Wanderers.

“Omollo has established himself as one of Kenya’s most exciting young talents. He played an instrumental role in helping Bidco United FC earn promotion to the Kenyan Premier League, with the club also finishing runners-up in a domestic cup and 2nd in the National Super League.

At Murang’a Seal FC he won the 2022/23 National Super League title with 5 goals and 8 assists, before enjoying a sensational 2023/24 season at Nairobi United FC where he finished as the league’s Top Scorer with 17 goals and 10 assists in 27 goal contributions, guiding the club to promotion.

He then joined Kakamega Homeboyz midway through 2024/25, helping them to a Top 5 KPL finish with 5 goals and 3 assists, a tally he has matched so far in the 2025/26 season. His form also earned him a call-up to the Kenya U-20 National Team Training Camp in 2025,” the club added.

Omollo says he is excited and honoured to join Zambia’s most iconic club.

“I am very happy and honoured to join Mufulira Wanderers, one of the most historic and respected clubs in Zambia. I have heard so much about the passion of the fans and the rich history of the Mighty. I am ready to work hard and help the team achieve its objectives.”

Meanwhile Mufulira Wanderers CEO Evans Chiyanta believes Omollo’s quality, versatility and attacking output will strengthen the nine time MTN Super League Champions.

“Henry is a young, proven goalscorer with excellent experience in both the Kenyan Premier League and National Super League. His quality, versatility and attacking output will strengthen our squad and align perfectly with our ambitions for the season. We are delighted to welcome him to the Abena Milambo family,”  he said.

During the 2023–2024 National Super League (NSL), the second tier of Kenyan football Omollo emerged as the top scorer with 17 goals aged just 18.

After a short stint in Tanzania with Fountain Gate FC he returned to Kenya midway through the 2024/2025 season joining Homeboyz and playing an important role for Abana Beingo.

He scored a memorable last-minute strike in the Ingo Derby to secure a 2-1 win over AFC Leopards. Though largely from the bench, he managed 15 matches across all competitions, ending the season with four goals and two assists.

Omollo will be looking to follow in the footsteps of his former teammate Moses Shumah who lit up the Zambian football scene with  23 goals in all competitions for Power Dynamos before attracting interest from several clubs across Africa, including Wydad Athletic Club, RS Berkane, Azam FC and Simba SC before opting for a move to South Africa.
