Ian Bakala confirmed as new Forest Rangers head coach

Zambia Super League side, Forest Rangers has confirmed the appointment of Ian Bakala as the new head coach as earlier reported by the ZamFoot Crew.

Bakala takes over from Tenant Chembo who was sacked in January. The former Kabwe Warriors boss has penned a short time contract.

“Forest Rangers Football Club has appointed Ian Bakala the new Head Coach for the reminder of the season, effective immediately.

The former Kabwe Warriors Head coach has joined the Forest Rangers technical bench with vast experience having qualified Kabwe Warriors to the CAF confederation cup last season. He has also worked with other Super Division Teams like Lusaka Dynamos.”

Club Chairman, Ray Mumba confirmed the development during a press briefing this morning. The short term contract Bakala has signed is for the remaining eight games which will be reviewed based on his performance at the end of the season.

The Club has challenged Coach Bakala to help the team finish in a respectable position and hopefully qualify for CAF by the end of the eight games.

“ZAFFICO has brought about the following changes because it remains committed to Forest Rangers and wants to see it maximise shareholder value investment, as well as get back to its formidable form which saw it qualify to competitions like ABSA Cup and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League,” Mumba said.

Since the departure of Chembo, Dominic Changwe has been in-charge of the team in a care taker role. Chembo was been assisted by Bakala’s former international teammate Francis ‘Mr Reliable’ Kasonde.
