I told my players that we are going to collect maximum points – ‘Prophet ‘ Chisi Mbewe

Red Arrows gaffer Chisi Mbewe says he told his players during their preparations for Saturday’s encounter against Power Dynamos at Arthur Davies Stadium that they would collect maximum points.

Mbewe who was speaking on the aftermath of the 2-1 win over Abayellow at Arthur Davies Stadium said he was happy that his team delivered.

Mbewe revealed that they knew it was not going to be an easy game playing Power Dynamos at Arthur Davies Stadium but they prepared for it and psyched the players.

“I think this is a game that we knew that it was not going to be an easy game and it has not been easy playing at Arthur Davies but the most important thing we came prepared with I think we had psyched the players during the training. The most important thing that we did was to psych the players concerning the mindset because of the 12th player who happens to be the supporters. I think the supporters at Arthur Davies always motivate the team. You could even see in the early minutes of the game they lifted the team and the team managed to score,” he said.

“But again we conceded in the first minute we went on the break we told the players we reminded the players our preparation then we told them when we go back into the second half we need to look for an equaliser and after we look for an equaliser we need to look for the winning goal and I can even testify that during our preparation I told them that where we are going, we are going to collect the maximum points  and am happy that they have delivered,” he added.

Aaron Katebe was sent off in the 47th minute and that started a 40 minute turn around for Red Arrows who scored off the resulting free kick and a winner five minutes to time.

However Chisi Mbewe does not feel it’s the Redcard and numerical advantage that gave them the result but their dominance in the game.

“No. I think if you saw the way we controlled the game I think most of if you analyse most of the players from Power Dynamos they are coming from injuries and you could even see that they looked a bit tired even in the 20 minutes of the game. So we told the guys let’s just up the game and ensure that we equalise and win the game and here we are,” he said.

The Airmen are not getting carried away just yet despite moving up to second on the log table as they feel it’s still very early days in the league.

“I would say the league is still young. I would say a good result here at Arthur Davies Stadium. The most important thing is we need to remain focused. This game is water under the bridge. We shift our concentration to the next league game at home and we just need to continue our consistency and our good form. Then we’ll see where we end,” Chisi Mbewe said.

“I would say it’s not about the opponent. It’s about us. What we are doing, we are not concentrating on other teams. What we are doing, we just need to continue working hard. We just need to continue picking points like I have mentioned and ensure that we attain and achieve our goals at the end of the season.”
