Give us support – Mulambia

Chipolopolo midfielder Frederick Mulambia says fans should believe more in the local guns gearing up for the African Nations Championship kicking off this weekend.

In an interview from the team training camp at the University of Lusaka Silverest campus, Mulambia says the team is geared for the CHAN challenge.

The soft-spoken Power Dynamos playmaker says the team will do their best at Zambia’s fifth appearance at the tournament exclusively billed for players plying their trade in their domestic leagues.

“To the fans, they should give us the support and we shall do the rest,” he says.

Mulambia says the five-team group may look tough on paper but would be easier with hard work.

“On paper it seems to be a tough group, but I trust my team and our abilities. We can make it. It is about hard work,” he says.

On his personal ambitions at the tournament, “My personal target is to help the team and play every game. I need to help the team score goals and achieve the set target.”

Zambia will commence its CHAN assignment on August 7 against the Democratic Republic of Congo before facing Angola three days later.

The third game will see Zambia play Morocco on August 14 before concluding its group matches against hosts Kenya three days later.

Africa’s premium competition for domestic talent is being co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
