We are good to go – Mwanza

Chipolopolo midfielder Kelvin Mwanza says preparations for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) are going on well ahead of the tournament that kicks off this weekend.

Mwanza who will be making his debut in the Chipolopolo set up says the team was focused on taking it a game at a time.

“Preparations are going on so well. Everyone is pushing and we all know what is ahead of us,” he says.

“There is no easy game but what matters is how you prepare, I think we have done well in preparation and we are good to go. We are going to take every game as it comes.”

Mwanza says the younglings were receiving a lot of support from the older guards ahead of the tournament.

“It is a pleasure that we do have senior players in the squad that have been with the Chipolopolo for a while now. We are learning from them. That keeps us going and motivated,” he says.

Mwanza adds: “To the fans, they have to be patient with us. We are going to do our level best and deliver the set target.”

Zambia will commence its CHAN assignment on August 7 against the Democratic Republic of Congo before facing Angola three days later.

The third game will see Zambia play Morocco on August 14 before concluding its group matches against hosts Kenya three days later.

Africa’s premium competition for domestic talent is being co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
