Forest Rangers relegated after Mutondo’s narrow win over ZESCO 

Forest Rangers’ decade plus stay in the MTN Super League has come to an end after being relegated to the National Division One. 

This follows Mutondo Stars’ 1-0 win over ZESCO United thanks to a Godfrey Chibanga 26th minute header. 

Fole Malembe won promotion to the Super League in 2014 and had maintained their Super League status with mid table finishes and a spectacular 2019/2020 season that saw them finish second to Nkana after FAZ cut short the season due to COVID-19. 

Rangers join Lumwana Radiants, and Indeni as the three teams relegated from the Zambian topflight do far with only a single round of matches left to play. 

The narrow win takes Mutondo Stars out of the relegation zone and up to 12th place with 40 points. 

Elsewhere, Innocent Kashita scored a late equalizer canceling out Akakulubelwa Mwachiaba’s third minute opener to as Nkwazi and Kabwe Warriors shared spoils. 

The battle for survival now remains with five teams of which only four can survive; Mutondo Stars, Green Eagles, Atletico Lusaka, ZANACO, and Nchanga Rangers
