Jenni Hermoso and Alba Redondo scored twice as Spain thrashed Zambia in a Group C FIFA Women’s World Cup match on Wednesday.
The 5-0 defeat sees Zambia eliminated from the tournament with Monday’s match against Costa Rica a formality.
Zambia coach Bruce Mwape only made change from the opening day 5-0 defeat to Japan with Nkwazi goalkeeper Eunice Sakala replacing the suspended Catherine Musonda.
Teresa Abelleira gave the Spaniards a the lead in the ninth after she drove in a stunning strike from distance.
Hermoso doubled the lead just four minutes later to leave the Copper Queens helpless.
After the break, a brace from Redondo and a goal Hermoso sealed the victory for Spain.
With two defeats at the tournament, and having conceded 10 goals in 180 minutes, it’s been a big learning curve for Zambia.

Ladie, with time the disappointment and pain will disappear.
What will remain, is skill and character.
Most of us couldn’t make the team at school let alone a World cup.
There will be better times ahead.
Good luck and God bless!
This has been the most embarrassing moment in the history of Zambian football.
LOL 🤣 🤣🤣🤣. “BOWING OUT” is for those who had a chance to fight. Only serious teams with dignity bow out.
These girls left the door open for high fives 🖐🏼🖐🏾🖐🏿 leading to 10 goals and soon to be 15 unanswered goals if we are not serious.
Certainly Costa Rica will not want to go hame without a point but atleast they only allow in maximum 03 goals they are better suited to BOW out while continue being DRAGGED out! In a deserving fashion….
