FAZ sack Micho for poor performance

Chipolopolo Boys coach Milutin ‘Milutin’ Sredojevic has been fired by the Football Association of Zambia, FAZ as earlier reported by the ZamFoot Crew.

The Serbian coach leaves his post following the Chipolopolo Boys’ recent poor run of form.

The former Uganda coach still had 8 months remaining on his over K550 million ($25, 000) salary.

FAZ General Secretary confirmed the development.

“FAZ can confirm that it has reached a mutual separation agreement with its senior Men’s National Team coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic. After a meeting between FAZ and the coach, it was agreed that in the interest of progress for both parties they had to separate,” says FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala.

Since he took over on February 3, 2020, Micho has been in charge of the Chipolopolo in the AFCON qualifiers, CHAN, and Cosafa Cup Qualifiers.

During his tenure, Zambia failed to qualify for the 2021 AFCON tournament but to be fair to him he only had four games with Aggrey Chiyangi having presided and lost the first two games.

Despite Aggrey Chiyangi qualify for the tournament, Micho was handed the mantle of managing the Zambia CHAN team but the Copper Bullets were disappointing.

The final nail in the coffin was the Cosafa Cup in South Africa where Zambia lost to minnows Lesotho and eSwatini.

Zambia only recorded her win over Botswana before a goalless draw against a fourth-grade Bafana Bafana side.

“I am grateful to the Zambian people, the players, coaches, officials, ls, and the fans who supported me in various ways during my stay. All the positive experience with Chipolopolo Zambia I will use in my career ahead and would like to wish all the best to Zambia,” Micho said

  1. Thanks for the embarrassment we have enjoyed during you stay in Zambia that is only achievement you have achieved . anyway you were worst coach Zambia has employed

    • We have not always failed with local coaches. I rate Wadas performance 100 times better than Micho. The mas was experimenting with players through out his tenure. After one year he should have surely come up with a team to rely on.

  2. Our players let him down. They should equally face the chop so that we start all over again. Young blood needed. Our league is infested with foreign material which is not helping.

  3. Faz executive has failed us also. Too many of experiments in your doings. Please be focused. Don’t be only money oriented. Work. We need results. The kalusha’s executive really worked. We saw some results. Have you run out of ideas so fast? We have players who are energetic and sound and who can produce results, but because of corruption you are there to leave normal players and pick only papets. Pick players on merit please.
Learn a big lesson. It’s a big shame to be eliminated from even COSAFA cup at this stage. Zambia is not a small country. We have talent, but only selection is a problem.

  4. Who ever takes over should look at bringing back the ernegy of Chris Katongo , the skill and trickery of Kalaba and Chisamba. The biggest home work is on goal keeping.

  5. It was long overdue I don’t even understand why FAZ took long to fire him he failed to qualify us to afcon well done FAZ

  6. Seriously we have World Cup qualifiers in less than 3 months you fire a Coach. Then he has start selecting his team. Players have to get used to his style of play and chemistry. Micho was appointed with to take over from Chiyangi and the were only 4 games remaining in the qualifiers. There is no way a Coach can know players just in two games it takes time.

I feel for the New Coach given the job late and expected to perform miracles. For local Coaches for Big games like W.C qualifiers forget about getting even getting out of the 1st phase.

Zambia from history have had more success with foreign Coaches than local Coaches.

  7. Wrong time to fire a coach who is much better than our local coaches. Don’t make the mistake of hiring a Zambian trainer.

  8. @Tony Mash we all want the best for the team. A good Coash at $25 000 is hard to come by. Maybe Charles Musonda? For me a local Coach is a big NO. Of course Charles is local but that International exposure makes the difference.

  9. I really feel this is a mistake FAZ has made.
Poor results we all can agree to but sacking Micho isn’t the right step to take, anyways FAZ president good luck with your decision made

  10. Honestly FAZ is this the way to go??
None of our local coaches have shown the ability to compete with the West and North Africans ( and now Lesotho, Swaziland and even Namibia) on a consistent basis.
    What now?

Withdraw and wait for WC 2026?

    OR

Make Kennedy Mweene player /coach . Get captain Chris Katongo to help.

    Lastly,

Ba FAZ, if you are in church today, ask priest to start with “Gospel of John, chapter 11, verse 35”.

  11. Much as the (FAZ) have failed and firing the coach at this wrong time.. Just guess what happens next… inertia to act plus poorly tactical local coaches awe sure… Even you Kamanga and your friends please leave.

  12. I wonder what the Faz President Andrew Kambwanga is planning. I think Charles Musonda could be the best option as he has international experience

  13. Please fellow Zambians let’s come out strong, so that Faz can sign up Charles Musonda.

Faz job well done by chasing this Micho.

  14. Here we go again. This is what happens every time.

Step 1. Lose important game in qualifiers. Respond by bringing in Foreign coach and ask him to qualify the team even though you’ve lost two games with only 4 more left
Step 2. Foreign coach fails to qualify team so you bring in a local coach
Step 3. Local coach loses first qualifier, but everyone is like the team played well. Local coach comes close to qualifying but fails so we bring in Foreign coach at last minute
Step 4. Start back at Step 1.

As long as this cycle continues then we may as well forget about it. Zambia needs a long term plan. Get a coach with the future in mind. There is no silver bullet coach who will get us there. 2012 Africa Cup Success started with the 2007 U-20 team. Zambias U-20 World Cup appearance started with Zone 6 championship hosted in Zambia, hosting COSAFA. FAZ is failing us as fans by simply thinking they can recycle coaches without any long term plans. We need to do better.

  15. @Positive Thinking nailed it buddy exactly what i was saying. Repeat mode. “The Elephant in the room” is FAZ. They should be looking at themselves.

  16. All this points to the incompetence of Kamanga and the rest of FAZ. Shameless idiots that are in FAZ in order to make money. Idiots

  17. A bad Carpenter will always blame his tools. FAZ blaming the coach. We did not qualify to the last AFCON that is the truth
