The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has confirmed it made a profit during the March FIFA International window where they hostec two games at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
According to a statement posted on the FAZ Facebook Page, Acting FAZ General Secretary, Iva Lengwe confirmed the development.
Lengwe revealed that Football House made K1.8 Million net from the senior Chipolopolo win over Lesotho and K80,000 net from the U-23 National draw with Egypt.
“Following the successful hosting of two international matches involving the Chipolopolo and Under-23 national teams, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) wishes to announce the gate takings from the engagements.
FAZ acting General Secretary Iva Lengwe says after taking into account all costs associated with the game and reconciliations with the ticketing vendor the Association had netted about K1.8 million from the Zambia versus Lesotho AFCON qualifier.”
Lengwe: In keeping with our tradition of transparency and accountability, we are happy to announce the gate takings from our two international assignments. For the Chipolopolo match we made a net of K1.8 million that came from gate charges and pitch side advertising,” Lengwe says.
“For the under-23 match we made a net of K80, 000 which came from gate charges.”
Lengwe went in to thank the fans for having turned up in numbers for the two assignments.
“We wish to thank the fans especially from the Copperbelt for having given our teams massive support. Our prayer is that for the forthcoming assignments in June and beyond we will get even greater support for our teams.”
The Chipolopolo hosted Lesotho on March 23 in a Group H qualifier while the U23 hosted Egypt on March 26 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

Transparency would be revealing how money from FIFA especially from the woman’s WorldCup qualifications is being used. Not gate takings
