The Lusaka Province Division one league faced a new challenge of back to back fixtures after playing week 18 matches, the teams went straight into midweek fixtures for the rescheduled week 1 games.
After going four games in a row without a win, Chongwe United picked up all the three points at national Assembly ground with an impressive 2-0 win. Cornwell Buumba was hero of the day as he sent his team to glory and brought the winning drought to an end when he carried the whole team and netted a brace. After that impressive 2-0 win away from home, Chongwe United hosted Vector Fc at Chongwe Secondary School ground the game ended in a 1 all draw.
Young Green Buffaloes went on to suffer the first defeat of the season and surrendered the top spot on the log to Misisi when they lost by 3 goals to 1. Paramilitary’s Allan Bwalya’s brace and a goal from Kennedy Mushipe were enough to bring Buffaloes’ unbeaten run to an end.
In a week 1 rescheduled match, Buffaloes believed in themselves and scored 2 late goals through Michael Musonda and Paul Chella to cancel out Allan Bwalya’s first half goal and carry the day 2-1 it ended in favour of Young Green Buffaloes.
After 4 games out of action, Athletico Lusaka came back on the pitch with a home game against Airport Warriors in the week 1 rescheduled encounter. The Warriors proved to be very strong as they recorded an impressive 2-0 win in their favour and Athletico registered their first defeat at home. Former Red Arrows midfielder Daniel Sibanda and Musa Chewe scored the 2 goals for the Airport side.
Under the new name of Kalilo Celtic (Romeki) and the new Technical Director Mr. Cornwell Munyati, the former team known as Romeki registered their first win of the season when they beat Young Zanaco by a goal to nil. Thanks to a penalty goal from Evans Chama.
In midweek, Kalilo Celtic took another opportunity to beat the young Zanaco back to back and registered their second win in a row. The two victories saw them move out of the relegation zone. The Young Zanaco side are still searching for the first win and are now sitting on the bottom of the table with just 4 points after 11 games played.
Lusaka City Council, the only unbeaten team so far, continued with their unbeaten run as they registered a 1-0 win over the weekend with Dada Banda’s fourth goal of the season proving to he the all important goal that made them continue chasing for the qualification to playoffs of the National League as they are back on the third spot after recording a barren draw at home against the Bulls in a midweek encounter.
After edging Kabwata Dynamos at their home, Misisi Youth Academy is another team that managed to walJ away with 2 victories in a space of 4 days against 1 team.
Misisi were without week 18 two goals hero against Kabwata Dynamos Peter Moyo as he received a red card after 2 bookable offences. Kabwata Dynamos lost the match 2-1. In a week 1 match, Misisi won by a goal to nil to safe guard their top position on the table.
