FAZ Eastern Province D1 – A look at the just-ended season

The FAZ Eastern Provincial Division One 2021/2022 season was another exciting campaign for the18 teams that were involved across the region.

Katete Rangers were crowned champions of Eastern province division one with 76 points, and 11 points ahead of Zesco Chipata who finished as runners up this season with 65 points.

A number of 612 games were played out of these games the province recorded 24 walkovers were teams failed to show up on different venues, meaning 588 games were played on the field of play.

Not a bad season for all teams with 685 goals were recorded in all 612 games and out these 685 goals, 72 goals came from 24 Walkovers and 10 goals have been recorded from four disciplinary cases, this simply means 603 goals were the actual goals scored on the field of play.

James Phiri of Katete Rangers scooped the top scorers award with 23 goals in his 34 games played and last season’s top scorer again from Katete Rangers Edwin Banda scored 22 goals in 29 games he played meaning the last two seasons top goalscorers have come from Katete Rangers.

It was not a bad season but it saw less competition this season compared to last season were Sinda United and Panza had a stiff race with just a single point difference compared to this season were champions finished the season with eleven points more than the team in second place.

Too many Walkovers which from the ZamFoot Crew’s analysis have also weakened the league as teams just accumulated points on a silver plate.

We hope next season these Walkovers will be minimized by the Eastern Province Football Association.

Nyamphande Kumm’awa and Real Mpezeni according to the league standings are relegated to Division two for next season as the two teams finished their season 17th and 18th respectively.

It’s been a good season for ZamFoot Crew’s Charles Nkhoma who managed to cover some games Live with the little resources available to him.

The hope of the ZamFoot Crew is for a better season in the 2022/2023 and much appreciation to all those who had supported him with resources to make sure he did his work and provided the necessary information to the public.

We must admit that it’s not easy for you to have sacrificed your hard earned resources just to help, Mr Nkhoma, We thank you so much.
