Every team has weaknesses – Kanyemba

Zambia U17 Women’s National Team head coach Carol Kanyemba says they have been working on the weaknesses of Canada and how to exploit them.

Kanyemba is full of praise for Canada who she feels are a good side but believes like any other team they have weaknesses that can be exploited by her team.

The Copper Princesses will square off with Canada tomorrow in a round of 16 encounter at 21h00.

Kanyemba says she expects her side to give it their all tomorrow like they did against New Zealand.

“We had three days of recovery and regeneration. The game against New Zealand was very intense. The girls gave it their all, so we had a light training on the first day of rest. And the two days we’ve been working on how we can counter the team for Canada. It’s a good team. It’s a well-structured team. They get physical at times, like the game they played against Nigeria was a physical one,” she said.

“But every team has got its own weaknesses. We’ve been working on the weaknesses as well, and how we can capitalise on their weaknesses. Our prayer is that tomorrow, as we face them, our girls will be able to come to the party as they did against New Zealand and give it their all. Once we give it our all, we expect a good result out of it. As the coaches, the analysts, we’ve done everything to compile the information that the girls need to know. And we are also psyching them not to ride on the wind that we had against New Zealand. “

The Copper Princesses thrashed New Zealand 4-0 to book a place in the last 16 but Kanyemba wants the girls to put that game behind them and focus on Canada with a different attitude.

“That is a game behind us. The challenge we have now is a different challenge. So we need to face it with a different attitude as well. Obviously, the attitude should be positive. We shouldn’t look down on ourselves, but we should believe in our abilities as a team,” She said.

Meanwhile defender Faith Kaunda says the players are ready to fight for this match as they only want to get a positive result.

“We are fighting for this game, we want to win this game. We will fight very hard to get a positive result,” Kaunda said.
