Power Dynamos will return to local league action this on Wednesday as they travel to Chingola to face Nchanga Rangers in a rescheduled Week 5 MTN Super League encounter.
After sealing qualification to the CAF Champions League group stages, Oswald Mutapa’s side will be looking to maintain momentum on the domestic front. The fixture adds to a busy schedule for the Kitwe giants, who still have four league games in hand alongside upcoming continental commitments this November.
Power Dynamos have collected 8 points from their last 5 league games, winning two, drawing two, and losing once , a home defeat to Red Arrows.
Meanwhile, Nchanga Rangers have quietly built strong home form, remaining unbeaten at their ground so far this season.
The Chingola outfit have also impressed in recent weeks, losing only once in their last eight matches away to Red Arrows and will be eager to protect their home record against the champions.
Speaking ahead of the match, Nchanga Rangers assistant coach Israel Mwanza emphasized preparation and determination.
“We have prepared well. The boys know Power Dynamos is not a small team to underestimate. We have to go flat out and get three points.”
For Power Dynamos, Head Coach Oswald Mutapa acknowledged the challenge of managing a congested fixture list but expressed confidence in his squad’s depth.
“We have a tight schedule, but I feel we have the human resource that will help us achieve. We will try to manage by rotating players while maintaining the balance in the team.”
Power Dynamos last beat Nchanga Rangers in 2022 and are winless against the Chingola based outfit in the last three meetings.
However in the last 28 meetings it’s Power Dynamos who have enjoyed the majority of wins, 12 wins in comparison to Rangers’ 6 wins with 10 games ending in draws.
Goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga who missed the CAF Champions League games against Vipers SC is back after recovering from an illness.
Fredrick Mulambia, Prince Mumba and Owen Mwamba are likely to provide the creativity for the in-form Moses Shumah who has been scoring goals for fun.
For Nchanga Rangers the combination of Elliot Kampukesa and Christopher Itaka has been working well with the duo combining for three goals so far this season.
This match promises to be a thriller as Power Dynamos look to show the form that earned them a place in the CAF Champions League group stages, while the home side will be determined to protect their unbeaten record in Chingola.
