Evans Kangwa recalled, Kalaba and Mweene snubbed as Chiyangi names squad for back to back AFCON qualifiers

Russian based striker Evans Kangwa has returned to the national team set up after being named in Aggrey Chiyangi’s 21-member squad for back-to-back Cameroon 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Algeria and Zimbabwe.

Kangwa joins South Africa based trio of Justin Shonga, Mwape Musonda and Lazarus Kambole as the strikers named for the two crunchy encounters.

NO PLACE FOR MWEENE, LUBAMBO, AND KALABA

Chiyangi has recalled the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations winning duo of Nathan Sinkala and Stophila Sunzu who are on the books of TP Mazembe and FC Metz respectively. The duo missed out on the trip to West Africa for friendly matches against Benin and Niger.

There is however no place for the Copper Bullets most capped player Kennedy Mweene and former captain Rainford Kalaba. Poland based winger Lubambo Musonda has also not made the cut.

Chiyangi has to work without under-23 players that have been assigned to Beston Chambeshi’s team that will be taking part in the U23 AFCON tournament that kicks off on 8th November in Egypt.

The local players will regroup in Lusaka on Sunday with foreign-based players expected to join during the requisite FIFA window that runs from November 11-19.

Chipolopolo will face 2019 AFCON Champions, Algeria away in Algiers on 14th November before playing host to the Warriors of Zimbabwe five days later.

    • Lubambo Musonda too, likula! Pacy but runs and dribbles aimlessly; with his crosses that have a probability chance of 50/50 finding his teammates in that box.

  1. So ba FAZ, here we are with two qualifying matches and still no coach hired. Then if you get bad results you’ll hire someone to try and qualify the team from bottom of the group. This is so ridiculous

  2. I feel Ziyo Tembo should have been given a place in the team..mweene for Toaster in goal..any way, the caoch has the final say..

    • Ba Lubambo likula! Pacy, but runs and dribbles aimlessly; with his crosses that have a probability chance of 50/50 finding his teammates in that box. Balekeni fye bachite concentrate na club football.

    • I had a bit of chance to watch the new guy – Mwenya Chibwe…oh my word, he has impressive reflexes! Fantastic stopper of the ball! Not taking anything away from Mwange but for now, he is a mile better.

  3. Trust me bigman mwenya chibwe is far much better than the two. The goalkeeper that is not supposed to be there is toaster coz he will be the reason why will be toasted by the Arabs if he starts in goal

  4. I’m happy to see Nathan “The Enforcer’ Sinkala. in the team. He is the best defensive midfielder we have in the country. Lubambo has been given enough chances but has failed to make an impact.
Mwenya Chibwe i feel will do well to replace K.Mweene going forward. He is a good shot stopper.
Ziyo Tembo also would be of help to the defence that lucks experience apart from Sunzu and Kabaso.

We have to try and close shop against Algeria and hit them on the break,
