Cosafa Cup: Numba in! Sichone could be sidelined

Kabwe Warriors coach Numba Mumanga might take charge of Zambia at the 2024 Cosafa Cup.

And Zambia assistant coach Moses Sichone might be sidelined as FAZ want to expose more local coaches to international football.

Chisi Mbewe was a frontrunner for the job following his league and cup double success.

But the Red Arrows coach will not be in South Africa because of his club’s involvement at the Cecafa Cup in East Africa – [Cecafa will start on June 26 and end on July 11]

“Ideally Chisi deserves a shot at the national team but we didn’t want to disturb Arrows’ continental preparations.

With this background, the ZamFoot Crew understands that Numba will be given the chance the drill a locally assembled squad.

Defending Champions Zambia will be for third straight Cosafa Cup title.

The record winners are in Group B alongside Zambia, Zimbabwe and Comoros.

The tournament will run from June 27 to July 7 and will be staged at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
